HT Accessories – lubricant and adhesives for plastic pipes

Three installation products that belong in your kit when working with plastic drainage pipework. The lubricant is for socket joints with a sealing ring, the adhesives for permanent solvent-welded joints in plastic pipes.

Installation lubricant 150 ml

Apply the lubricant in a thin layer to the chamfered pipe end and to the sealing ring in the socket. It reduces the force required for insertion and protects the ring from rolling or being pushed out of its groove. Never use mineral oils or petroleum jelly on seals – they can damage the elastomer.

New Age adhesive 125 ml

Adhesive for joining plastic pipes and fittings with a solvent-welded joint, in a 125 ml pack. It is used on pipework where a socket with a ring is not used, and for repairs. Check suitability for the specific pipe material against the information on the packaging.

Novolep adhesive for NOVODUR 130 ml

Adhesive intended for NOVODUR (PVC) pipes and fittings, in a 130 ml pack. It is used for firm, permanent joints.

Bonding procedure

1. Clean and degrease the surfaces to be joined and let them dry.
2. Apply the adhesive evenly to the spigot end and into the socket.
3. Immediately push the parts together as far as they go without twisting, and hold briefly.
4. Wipe off any excess adhesive and let the joint cure before subjecting it to load.

Safety

The adhesives contain flammable solvents. Work with a window open, away from open flames, and close the container tightly after use.

Questions and answers

Are polypropylene HT pipes glued? No. The HT system is joined by sockets with a seal – the lubricant is used with it. The adhesives are intended for solvent-welded plastic pipes.

When should the lubricant be applied? Just before insertion, in a thin layer – on a dry seal the pipe binds and the ring may roll out of position.
