To route this solar piping, an unused chimney is often used, or the solar piping is installed on the outside of the building. In new builds the solar distribution is typically "chased into the masonry", so it is best to install it before plastering.
When the solar system is shut down in summer, the solar piping can heat up to as much as 180°C, which is why stainless steel is the most suitable material. The wall thickness of the solar distribution pipes is determined by the number of solar collectors; for a typical number of collectors (up to five) a DN16 stainless steel pipe is sufficient.
