THERMIA ATHENA 18HC TOTAL COMPACT (code IHPA18HCTC) is a premium inverter air-to-water heat pump system from Thermia ATHENA: the compact outdoor unit ATHENA 18HC with proven refrigerant R410A and the indoor unit TOTAL COMPACT. The HC model can also cool the house – cooling operates at outside temperatures from +15 to +37 °C. The ATHENA range is suitable for new builds and renovations with heat loss up to 18 kW.

Indoor unit TOTAL COMPACT

Includes the control system GENESIS with a color touch display, heating/TV switching valve, circulation pump, built-in auxiliary heater and a stainless steel hot water tank 180 l with TWS technology in a reduced cabinet without free space at the bottom. The tank provides 254 l of water at 40 °C, unit weight is 96.5 kg. Controls one direct and one mixed heating circuit, with an expansion card also pool heating. Modbus is available for superior building control, built-in Smart Grid function for photovoltaics and remote monitoring Thermia Online.

Design and installation

Capacity is designed in the Thermia HPC program. The outdoor unit is installed 300 – 500 mm in front of a wall at least 250 mm thick, which protects it from wind; it is connected to the indoor unit with a pipe Ø 28 mm up to 15 m long. The recommended water volume in the system is 180 l. The delivery includes a magnetic filter, the connecting kit IHP086U567AH is ordered separately. The indoor unit belongs to a frost-free area with a floor inlet, on a floor with sufficient load capacity. Installation and commissioning is carried out by a professional company.

What is the difference between the versions TOTAL, TOTAL +60 and TOTAL COMPACT?
TOTAL has a hot water tank of 300 l. TOTAL +60 has a tank of 180 l and in addition an accumulator tank of 60 l, expansion vessel of 12 l and a circulation pump for the heating system. TOTAL COMPACT has a tank of 180 l in a reduced cabinet.

Can the heat pump ATHENA 18HC TOTAL COMPACT also cool?
Yes, the HC model has a built-in cooling function, which operates at outside temperatures from +15 to +37 °C. It also controls a cooling/heating switching valve, through which a cooling tank can be connected.

How far can the outdoor unit be from the indoor unit?
The units can be connected by a pipe Ø 28 mm with a maximum length of 15 m; smaller dimensions are not allowed by the manufacturer.

How noisy is the outdoor unit?
The sound pressure level is 48 dB(A) at a distance of 1 m, 32 dB(A) at 5 m and 28 dB(A) at 10 m. The manufacturer recommends not to place it near windows of living rooms or facing neighbors.
