ITEC E-TOTAL 12 (ITEC E-T 12) is an inverter heat pump from Thermia's IVAR.HP iTec E series for single-family homes and apartments – both new constructions and renovated buildings with heat loss up to 19 kW. It consists of an external compact unit with a capacity of 3.4–12 kW and an internal unit in the TOTAL version. The compressor frequency inverter continuously adjusts the performance to the current heat loss of the house.

Internal unit TOTAL

The TOTAL version includes a control system, sensors for supply and return, a circulation pump with speed regulation, a switching valve for heating/ hot water, an auxiliary heater of 15 kW (supply 400 V), and a stainless steel hot water tank with a volume of 180 l with a TWS coil. The cabinet has dimensions of 596 × 690 × 1845 mm and weighs 106 kg when empty. Hot water has priority over heating, and the tank is regularly heated against legionella (once every 7 days from the factory).

External unit

Dimensions 940 × 330 × 1420 mm (w × h × d), weight 111 kg, heating water connections 1" with external thread. Power supply 400 V 3~N 50 Hz, circuit breaker 10 A. Sound pressure level at a distance of 4 m is 47 dB(A), sound power 64 dB(A). The unit must be mounted on a solid foundation and must not be placed in an enclosed space; condensate from defrosting is drained through a heated pipe, never into the sewer.

System design

• at least 120 l of heating water must always be available in the system for safe defrosting
• rated flow 16 l/min, pipe size min. 28 mm; flow sensor is part of the delivery
• control serves a direct and a mixing circuit, with an expansion card a second mixing circuit or pool heating
• cooperation with photovoltaics via Smart Grid (optional accessories), it is recommended to use the HPC software for dimensioning

Installation: Installation, electrical connections and interventions in the refrigerant circuit with slightly flammable refrigerant R32 may only be carried out by qualified specialists.

What is included in the delivery?
External unit with condensate drain elbow, internal unit TOTAL, ball valve with filter, external temperature sensor, flow sensor and documentation. Connection piping and flexible hoses must be ordered separately as accessories.

How much hot water does the TOTAL version prepare?
The built-in stainless steel tank has a volume of 180 l. According to EN 16147, it provides 249 l of water at 40 °C with this heat pump size.

Can the heat pump also be used for cooling?
Yes, the cooling function is already included in the basic version, with a cooling capacity of 12 kW at A35/W18. Cooling circuits must be insulated with vapor-tight insulation to prevent condensation of moisture on them.

What maintenance does the heat pump require?
Check the pressure in the heating system once a month (0.8–1.5 bar), safety valves at least four times a year and clean the dirt filter twice a year. Keep the external unit free of snow, ice and leaves.
