With higher outputs or more complex exhaust routes (longer runs, more directional changes, shared chimney body for multiple boilers), the coaxial pipe 60/100 mm can no longer be used efficiently – the flow resistance would be too high and the boiler performance would be limited. Therefore, in these cases, a separate (double-pipe) system with a diameter of 80 mm is used, where air intake and exhaust are carried through two separate pipes, which can follow different routes (for example, exhaust above the roof and air intake through a side wall). The boiler itself and its exhaust system must also meet the requirements of STN EN 483 (gas boilers type C) and be installed in accordance with the applicable technical and operational regulations (TPP) for gas equipment.

Installation must be carried out only by a person with professional qualifications for the installation and servicing of gas appliances, who will issue a maintenance report or commissioning certificate after completion. In the case of any change in the route compared to the original approved design (e.g., additional extension of the route, change in the number of elbows), it is necessary to check whether the boiler is still within the parameters allowed by the manufacturer – otherwise, not only a boiler malfunction, but also loss of warranty and in the worst case a safety risk of flue gas leakage may occur.

Maintenance and service inspection

Both caps of the roof kit are recommended to be checked at least once a year, ideally before winter – especially the condition of the sealing collars and the passability of both grilles (exhaust and intake), since clogging of either of them affects the operation of the entire boiler.

The recommended inspection interval for the entire exhaust route is once a year, usually as part of the regular service inspection of the boiler carried out by an authorized service technician. At this time, this specific part is also checked, the passability of the condensate path and the overall condition of the connections along the entire route from the boiler to the termination outside the building.
