Frequently Asked Questions

  • How exactly do I choose the output of a BUDERUS condensing boiler? The basis is the calculated heat loss of the heated building (most reliably from the project documentation or an energy certificate). If you don't have a project, you can roughly estimate around 60-100 W per m² of floor area for a commonly insulated house built after 2000, or 100-150 W/m² for an older, uninsulated house - the exact figure, however, differs depending on the number of floors, ceiling height, number and quality of windows, and building orientation. An oversized boiler switches on and off more often (so-called cycling), which shortens its lifespan and reduces efficiency; an undersized boiler, on the other hand, cannot heat the house sufficiently on freezing days.
  • Why is a condensing boiler more economical than a conventional one? A condensing boiler additionally uses the heat hidden in the water vapor generated when burning gas - in a conventional boiler this heat leaves unused through the flue, while in a condensing boiler it is cooled below the so-called dew point, the vapor condenses, and the released heat is returned to the heating circuit. Thanks to this, condensing boilers achieve an efficiency of approximately 105-110% relative to the calorific value of the gas, compared to the usual 85-92% for conventional boilers.
  • What type of flue gas extraction does this boiler need? Most modern condensing boilers are so-called turbo units (with a sealed combustion chamber) and require a coaxial (concentric) or separate flue gas extraction and combustion air supply routed through the exterior wall or roof - so they do not need a functional chimney. You will find the exact type and maximum length of the flue duct (depending on the diameter, 60/100 or 80/125 mm) in the technical documentation for the specific model, or you can consult our customer service.
  • What does the ErP energy class stated for the boiler mean? This is a mandatory efficiency label for heating appliances under the EU ErP (Ecodesign) directive, similar to the energy labels on refrigerators. Condensing boilers commonly achieve class A, or higher in combination with room control (e.g. A+ when using weather-compensated control and a room thermostat).
  • Can I install and connect this boiler myself? No. Connection to the natural gas supply, the electrical network, and the flue gas extraction is by law reserved exclusively for a person with the relevant authorization (most often an authorized service technician of the given brand or a gas appliance inspection technician). After installation, the boiler must be commissioned by the manufacturer's authorized service, which is usually also a condition for warranty validity.
  • What about service and warranty? Most manufacturers require a regular annual service inspection by an authorized service provider in order to maintain the warranty even after its standard expiry (an extended warranty subject to regular servicing is common especially for the brands Vaillant, Protherm, Viessmann). You will find the exact warranty terms in the warranty certificate supplied with the boiler.
  • What is included in the delivery of this specific product? The exact package contents (the boiler itself, possibly a hot water storage tank, room control, and other accessories in the case of a set) are stated in the product name and in its technical parameters above on this page.

With a product portfolio covering wall-hung and stationary boilers, including heat pumps and combined heat and power units, through solar systems to flow-through hot water heaters, Bosch Thermotechnology offers prospective and energy-efficient solutions compatible with the environment.

Buderus

As few brands in the world can boast a history of more than 280 years, Buderus can. As early as 1731, Johann Wilhelm Buderus founded his foundry near Laubach in Upper Hesse.

In the past, Buderus boilers were imported into the Czechoslovak Republic through foreign trade companies, and thus these boilers ensure reliable heating and hot water in many important buildings, such as the Prague Congress Centre or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava. No exception are also smaller capacity boilers in family homes, which have been operating for more than 25 years.

Further development of the company, which ultimately brings higher customer satisfaction, is supported by the fact that Buderus became part of the Bosch Group in 2004.

Buderus, as a system expert, offers comprehensive heating system solutions on the Slovak market for apartments, family homes, as well as medium and large buildings. The range includes heating equipment for natural gas, propane, as well as equipment using renewable energy sources. Buderus, as a supplier of complete heating systems, offers hot water storage heaters, heating bodies and controls for each type of system. For the customer, this means that they receive a complete system from one supplier.

At present, the Buderus brand is focusing on new advanced solutions that make more use of technologies using renewable energy sources. The efficiency, economy and environmental impact of using heat pumps or a combination of solar panels and a condensing gas boiler are very interesting options in new buildings and also when renovating older buildings.

All products offered meet the most modern ecological requirements and are designed with the aim of the most economical operation. Responsible planning and implementation of heating requires a responsible supplier: Robert Bosch s.r.o., Thermotechnology Division - Buderus is the right one.

History

1731 - It all began with a high coal-fired furnace - in it, Johann Wilhelm Buderus I. produced cast iron, among other things, oven plates.

1835 - J.W. Buderus's company already had five foundries and produced stoves, which already meant comfortable heat at that time. Since then, Buderus has been setting trends in heating.

1881 - In the 19th century, Buderus gained an excellent reputation with its stoker stoves. These stoves were considered the most reliable and most efficient stoves on the market.

1898 - The first sectioned cast iron boilers were patented and the production of the first cast iron heating bodies (radiators) could be started.

1915 - Buderus attracted attention and admiration with the first large oil-fired boilers and in 1930 it was the first to produce a special oil-fired boiler.

1950 - Since the beginning of the 1950s, Buderus has also been producing steel boilers.

1958 - Due to the need for customer comfort, Buderus brought a new type of boiler, the Loganatherm, to the market. It was a combination of a cast iron boiler with an integrated hot water storage tank.

1962 - Buderus introduced the first wall-mounted heating body - Buderus Juno Heizblock, which was a revolution in heating at that time.

1977 - Buderus responded to the first oil crisis with low-temperature heating systems Ecomatic, which needed up to 15% less energy.

1981 - With the acquisition of the Dutch group Nefit, Buderus became a European market leader with even more efficient condensing technology.

1998 - 100 years after the ironworks Hirzenheim and Lollar received the first patent for the newly created sectioned boiler, the five-millionth cast iron boiler was produced in Lollar.

2002 - Since the beginning of solar technology, the Buderus brand has become a specialist in the integration of renewable energy in heating.

2003 - This year marked the transition from oil heating to compact, extremely quiet wall-mounted constructions in low-temperature and condensing versions.

2004 - At the annual general meeting of the Buderus company on May 13, it was decided to merge the activities in the field of heating technology of Robert Bosch GmbH and Buderus. The company BBT Thermotechnik GmbH is entered in the commercial register on August 2.

2005 - Buderus introduced the gas condensing boiler Logamax plus GB162s with a power of up to 100 kW and an exceptionally compact design. With the help of the offered accessories, it is possible to realize a 400 kW boiler cascade with low space requirements.

2008 - The company BBT Thermotechnik GmbH was renamed effective January 1 to Bosch Thermotechnik GmbH. The Buderus brand continues to maintain its separate identity in the brand portfolio.

2011 - The Buderus MyDevice application offers a completely new dimension of thermal comfort: with the MyDevice system, it is possible to conveniently control the heating system on the go - simply by swiping your finger across the smartphone display.

2014 - The revolutionary inverter technology of air-to-water heat pumps allows energy to be drawn from the air and converted into heat. It thus offers the possibility of using renewable energy sources for heating and the preparation of hot utility water.

2015 - Buderus introduces the new Titanium range, which combines the highest level of energy efficiency and system-integrated technology, in a new timeless design.

2021 - Buderus celebrates 290 years since its founding by J. W. Buderus.
