The IVAR.B4V board, code B4V042II, is one of the dependent controls for IVAR.FARNA and IVAR.FARNA BIG fan coils in a two-pipe system. It is installed in the unit and runs the DC Inverter fan at fixed speed steps – the connected room thermostat decides when and how fast it runs. Without one of the recommended controls the fan coil will not operate.
Four speeds, three to choose
- V1 – maximum speed 1400 rpm,
- V2 – medium speed 1100 rpm,
- V3 – minimum speed 680 rpm,
- V4 – super-silent speed 400 rpm.
With a 3-speed thermostat, three of the four inputs are wired: V2, V3 and V4 suit homes where quiet running comes first, while V1, V2 and V3 suit commercial spaces where output matters most. If several inputs are closed at once, the motor runs at the highest one. Several boards can be connected in parallel to one thermostat.
Other inputs and outputs
- CV input – switches the board on; with the contact open it goes to standby.
- Y1 output – 230 V / 50 Hz, 1 A for the electrothermal actuator.
- SUMMER/WINTER input – open means heating, closed means cooling.
- H2 water sensor (10 kΩ) – optional; if the thermostat does not monitor water temperature itself, the board does so once the sensor is connected, guarding the minimum water temperature in heating and the maximum in cooling.
Thermostats and signalling
The manufacturer recommends the IVAR.TFM01M wall thermostat with summer/winter switch and speed selector; a 3-speed thermostat from another brand can also be used. The LED on the board shows normal operation, standby and faults – unsuitable water temperature, motor alarm or a faulty H2 sensor. Electrical connection must only be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Which thermostat can I connect to the B4V042II board?
The manufacturer specifies the IVAR.TFM01M wall thermostat with summer/winter switch and speed selector. A 3-speed room thermostat from another brand can also be used, wired to three of the four speed inputs.
Which speeds should I wire with a 3-speed thermostat?
For quiet running at home, inputs V2, V3 and V4 (1100, 680 and 400 rpm) are recommended; for commercial spaces focused on output, inputs V1, V2 and V3 (1400, 1100 and 680 rpm).
Do I have to connect the H2 water sensor?
Not always. If the thermostat monitors water temperature itself, the H2 sensor is left unconnected; otherwise it can be connected to the board, which then guards the minimum water temperature in heating and the maximum in cooling.
