E-comfort instant water heater vs storage water tank
The E-comfort electronic instant water heater DSX Touch 18-27 kW (flow rate of 10 litres per minute at a precise water temperature of 42 °C) was compared with a 120-litre storage water tank with 2 kW output, a mixed water quantity of 15 l/min at an outlet temperature of 45 °C, in a standard household of 4 people with the following parameters:
- Daily usage time per person: 10 minutes
- Inlet temperature: 12 °C
- Outlet temperature: 42 °C
- Number of days of use: 340 days
- Electricity price per kWh: EUR 0.25
- Drinking and waste water costs: EUR 4.30 per m³
The E-electronic instant water heater can save up to EUR 350 per year compared to a storage water heater thanks to the electronic intelligent control of hot water heating, with no pipe runs, circulation or storage losses. The electronic instant water heater is well worth it, as the initial costs are quickly recovered.

About the company
Since its foundation in 1951, CLAGE has become a specialist in decentralized hot water supply. CLAGE has more than 60 years of history behind it.
1951
Claus-Holmer Gerdes establishes the company CLAGE in Lüneburg in 1951.
1956
The flow water heater S1..3 with an integrated water valve and resistance wire technology in the basic body transfers heat to hot water sources. The first device was officially sold in 1956.
1978
The first 10,000 units of the CLAGE U2-N series were sold.

1981 - M 1
The rectangular small flow water heater M 1 was successfully introduced and gradually replaced the previous round design. Production of U2-N was discontinued in 1985.
1989 - C-series
Flow water heaters are very interesting in the new federal states and new markets. In the interest of expanding export business, a new C series with tubular heating elements is introduced.
1991
In the last 3 years, sales have doubled to 100,000 units! The company is transformed into CLAGE GmbH and registered in the commercial register. Further impulses result from the expansion of the product range with large flow water heaters and hot water storage tanks.
1994 - DX 18...27
The new electronic flow water heater DX 18...27 introduces innovative technologies: very popular, excellent design and the first control panel with completely new operation. The radio remote control FDX maintains the functionality of the flow water heater DX 18..27 even when installed in a hidden location.
1997 - M 3...7
The new series of small flow water heaters M 3..7 replaces the previous M 1 and receives the iF Design Award.
1999 - C-series
With the new CX series device, the series is completed. CBH 11 is the first flow water heater specifically designed for kitchen sinks, while CBX 13 is unique with modern electronics in the mid-range segment.
The company is certified by VDE Germany for the development, production, sale and customer service of electric hot water devices according to ISO 9001 for the first time.
2002 - MH / MDH
After more than 20 years of development and successful sales, the popular small flow water heater appears in a completely new design as type MH (pressureless) or MDH (pressure-resistant).
2003 - ZIP system for drinking water
CLAGE takes over the sale of Zip boiling water machines and introduces the first under-counter boiling water devices. Boiling and even cooled drinking water flows from an electronic faucet at the push of a button.
2005 - DSX
The second generation of electronic flow water heaters is introduced at the international ISH fair. A completely newly developed series consists of three differently equipped types: DSX, DEX and DBX. The top model DSX SERVOTRONIC MPS® sets new standards in terms of design, ease of use and equipment.
2009 - CFX-U and FX
The electronic flow water heater CFX-U FUNKTRONIC MPS® received the Plus X Award for best product of the year 2011. The innovative, energy-saving technologies, exceptional design and intelligent and simple handling concept were awarded.
At the same time, a new electronic under-counter flow water heater was introduced to the market, offering intelligent comfort of hot water for kitchen sinks with remote control as standard.
2011 - MCX
The new small flow water heater MCX SMARTRONIC® is introduced at ISH 2011. The small device with an asymmetric design appearance in the front view is an elegant and powerful electronic device of the future.
2013 - Wireless control
Thanks to the intelligent control system, CLAGE sets a new standard for convenient control of hot water and clear consumption recording. All flow water heaters in the house can be intuitively controlled via a touchpad, mobile phone or other device. The display allows us to monitor lifespan, water and energy consumption, and of course the costs for the selected period.
2015 - DSX Touch
DSX Touch is introduced at ISH 2015. Simple operation via a touch display and clear consumption recording inspire visitors. With the integrated touch display behind the plaster, it is possible to quickly and easily set multiple users with individual temperature profiles. Another ISH innovation is the connection of flow water heaters to the KNX home automation system.
2017 - Smart Control - app
The control app »Smart Control« is now available for all systems (iOS and Android) for tablets and smartphones.
2019 - DSX Touch and DEX Next
At ISH 2019, the new innovative comfort water heaters DSX Touch and DEX Next are introduced. In addition to a completely new design, many new features are also worth mentioning. DSX Touch also received the Red Dot Award, an internationally recognized award for excellent design quality.
