Frequently asked questions
- How do I choose the right output for a ladder radiator in the bathroom? As a rough guide, allow approx. 100 W per m² of bathroom floor area at standard room height and insulation; if the radiator is the sole heat source in the room, choose a higher output within this range.
- What is the difference between a water, electric, and combined (dual) radiator? A water radiator is connected to the building's heating system (boiler) and only works while the heating is running; an electric radiator has its own heating rod/element and works independently of the heating (useful e.g. outside the heating season); a combined (dual) radiator allows both - in winter it is heated by the boiler, in summer or outside the season it runs independently on electricity.
- Do I also need a thermostat for an electric radiator? A thermostat is not always included with the heating rod/element - if not, we recommend buying one separately, as it lets you regulate the temperature and save electricity instead of running constantly at full output.
- Must the installation be carried out by a professional? Hanging the radiator on the wall can be done by a home handyman; for connecting to the water heating circuit (for water and combined models) we recommend using a heating engineer/installer.

About the company
Danfoss is a family company with a strong sense of philanthropy and social responsibility. The work is organized within many specialized Danfoss foundations. Each of them has its own goals and areas of support.
Innovations built on solid roots
Mads Clausen (1905-1966) is the founder of Danfoss, today one of the largest companies in Denmark. His impressive technical skills together with the talent to understand future needs of his customers gave birth to a global company, which he oversaw from his hometown of Nordals. Although he maintained a global perspective, he also deeply valued the local community and the people who enabled the growth of Danfoss.
For the benefit of Danfoss
In 1970, Bitten Clausen, the widow of Mads Clausen, founded the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation. She did so as part of a generational change in Danfoss with the aim of strengthening the future of Danfoss. Establishing the foundation meant that Bitten Clausen transferred 50% of the share capital of Danfoss A/S to the foundation and established a trust agreement of her activities.
The main goal of the foundation is to ensure the financial and competitive development of Danfoss. If the foundation's main goal is achieved, it may decide to support Danfoss A/S indirectly through other initiatives. The foundation's board selects the initiatives it wishes to support. Requests for funds cannot be addressed to the foundation.
Danfoss Foundations
Over the years, Danfoss and the Clausen family have established several other foundations with the aim of supporting valuable causes in southern Denmark, especially on the island of Als, where Danfoss is headquartered.
These Danfoss foundations accept funding applications and contribute to charitable purposes. Some foundations consider applications from Danfoss employees, while others consider applications from external parties. The largest of these foundations is the Fabrikant Mads Clausen Foundation.
