Flow Guardian for Heat Pump
IVAR.TER-TSS is an electronic sensor and flow monitor that is supplied as an accessory for IVAR.HP MEGA and LEGEND heat pumps; the technical data sheet also lists it for the CALIBRA and ATLAS series. The probe in the pipe measures the flow rate by calorimetric principle and one relay output switches when the flow reaches the set switching point. The output is normally open from the factory and can be changed to normally closed.

Installation and Connection
The sensor has a process connection M18 × 1.5 with an internal thread and is mounted in the pipe via an adapter, which is ordered separately. The tip of the probe must be fully immersed in the medium (at least 12 mm) and must not touch the pipe wall; for a horizontal pipe, side mounting is recommended. The power supply is 90–240 V AC, the relay contact can handle 3 A at 250 V AC and the circuit must be protected by a fast fuse up to 5 A according to IEC 60127-2. Electrical connection must be performed by a qualified electrician.

Is an adapter needed for installation?
Yes. The sensor has an M18 × 1.5 connection and is mounted in the pipe via a process adapter, which is ordered separately. Tighten the nut to a torque of 25 Nm.
How to properly mount the sensor in the pipe?
The tip of the probe must be fully immersed in the medium, at least 12 mm, and must not touch the pipe wall. For a horizontal pipe, side mounting is recommended, for a vertical pipe, mounting in a section with upward flow is recommended.
How is the switching point set?
With a button on the sensor. The flow and the position of the switching point are displayed by a column of 10 three-color LEDs.
