THERMIA CALIBRA E 16 (code IHP204010) is a compact inverter heat pump ground/water for single-family homes and apartments. It extracts heat from a borehole or a ground collector and with a power of 4–16 kW ensures heating and hot water preparation in new or renovated buildings. The CALIBRA E series is intended for buildings with a heat loss up to 24 kW.

System expansion

With the expansion card EM3, it controls a mixed heating circuit, an external auxiliary heat source (e.g., gas boiler), an activated buffer tank for a fireplace insert or a solar system and pool heating. For passive cooling from a borehole, the manufacturer recommends a passive cooling hydromodule.

Design and installation

Power is designed in the calculation program Thermia HPC. The heat pump is placed in a frost-free room on a solid base, ideally a concrete floor, and not in a corner – with a filled tank it weighs 366 kg. The non-freezing fluid circuit is filled with a mixture of water and ethanol with a freezing point of -17 ± 2 °C, a magnetic dirt separator with a filter is required in the return of the heating system and at least 14 l of water per kW of minimum power must be in the system. The connecting set IVAR.TER-PS (IHP08645676) is ordered separately. Installation and commissioning are carried out by a professional company, electrical installation by an electrician and work on the refrigeration circuit by a technician qualified in refrigeration technology.
