Thermia MEGA L is an inverter heat pump ground/water from the IVAR.HP MEGA range intended for larger buildings and commercial use. The compressor with a frequency inverter continuously adjusts the output in the range of 14–59 kW (B0/W35) according to the current heat demand, which is why the unit is designed to cover 100 % of the annual heat demand. The water temperature at the outlet reaches up to 65 °C, so it can be used in new buildings as well as during reconstruction.

Technology and Efficiency

Quiet Danfoss scroll compressor with speed inverter, electronic expansion valve, stainless steel plate heat exchangers and circulation pumps in energy class A; special construction with rubber compensators limits vibrations. Refrigerant R410A, charge 6.3 kg. At B0/W35 it delivers 35.6 kW with COP 4.50, seasonal SCOP is 5.29 (35 °C) and 4.20 (55 °C) according to EN 14825 for cold climate, energy class A+++. Sound power level 40–59 dB(A).

Installation

The unit with dimensions 900 × 849 × 1644 mm (w × h × d, without connecting nozzles) and weight 407 kg is installed horizontally on a concrete floor at least 100 mm thick, away from the corner of the room and walls adjacent to noise-sensitive areas. Connections: antifreeze liquid 54 mm, heating system 42 mm, superheated steam circuit 28 mm. A filter with max. 0.7 mm mesh is required in the return line of the system and in the antifreeze supply line, and flexible hoses are recommended for connection. Power supply 400 V 3N~, circuit breaker 50 A, maximum pressure of both circuits 6 bar.

Warning: The design uses the calculation software HPC 2. Installation, electrical connection and commissioning must be carried out by an authorized specialist.

Is the connecting set part of the delivery?
No. The package includes the heat pump, documentation, a set of sound-dampening plates and a set of sensors (external sensor and supply pipe sensor). The connecting set IVAR.TER-PS is ordered separately – for this model it has the code IHP08645679.

Can MEGA be used with a water/water source?
Yes, but for the water/water version it is necessary to design a custom intermediate heat exchanger and use a flow sensor. The immersion pump of the source can be controlled by a 0–10 V signal according to the temperature difference on the intermediate heat exchanger using an additional EM3 card.

What antifreeze is used in the primary circuit?
The manufacturer specifies an ethanol and water solution with a freezing point of −17 °C (±2 °C). Before use, it is necessary to verify local regulations; the maximum working pressure of the antifreeze circuit is 6 bar.
