Vaillant – Rubber Pads Small (4 pcs)
Original set of 4 smaller damping (rubber) pads from Vaillant for free-standing installation of more compact outdoor units of heat pumps on a flat, compacted base. These are a lighter and dimensionally smaller alternative to the large 60cm pads (see our product "Rubber Pads for Free-standing Installation"), intended for smaller and lighter model outdoor units.
Purpose
Just like with the large pads, the main function is acoustic and mechanical cushioning of the unit from the base – damping the vibrations of the compressor and fan so that they do not transfer into the house structure or into the compacted areas (terrace, paving) as disturbing structural noise. Due to the smaller dimensions and lower weight of the compatible units, 4 separate smaller pads are used (instead of 2 longer ones, as with larger units), placed under each corner/leg of the unit's base.

Compatibility
The pads are intended for smaller/compact outdoor units of the aroTHERM plus, aroTHERM Split and climaVAIR exclusive series (unit types VAI 5-025WN to 5-065WN and VAF 5-050 W2NO to 5-080 W4NO). Before ordering, we recommend verifying the exact unit type, as the size and load capacity of the pads are always adapted to a specific weight category.
Installation
The pads are placed on a previously prepared flat, drained and sufficiently load-bearing base (compacted ground, concrete slab, paving) at a spacing corresponding to the anchoring holes in the base of the specific unit. The unit is then placed and, if necessary, anchored. The installation does not require special tools, but we recommend entrusting the installation to a professionally qualified company, which will also carry out the connection of the piping and electrical installation.
Advantages of free-standing installation on small pads
Compared to a wall bracket, free-standing installation does not load the perimeter wall of the house and does not require anchoring into the wall, which is advantageous in cases of uncertain wall load capacity or architectural limitations (e.g., a historically protected façade). Compared to a more massive elevated base, this version is faster and cheaper to install where there is no increased risk of the unit being snowed in.
Common Questions
Can I use these pads for larger units (e.g., VWL 105, 125)? No, for more powerful and heavier units, a large 60cm set of pads with a higher declared load capacity is intended.
Is a concrete foundation required? On a flat and sufficiently compacted base, a separate concrete foundation is not necessary, the pads replace it.
How do I know if my unit belongs to a compatible series? The model designation can be found on the unit's production label or in the accompanying documentation; in case of doubts, we recommend verification by the seller or service company before ordering.
Operational and service recommendations
During the annual service inspection, we recommend checking the condition of the rubber damping inserts and the flatness of the unit's placement (whether any of the pads have settled unevenly). In case of visible tilting of the unit, we recommend contacting a service company without unnecessary delay, as long-term uneven tilting can negatively affect condensate drainage and increase compressor wear.
Related accessories
We recommend combining the pads with a suitable connecting set for bottom or side installation according to the direction of the route to the house. For larger and heavier units, a large 60cm set of pads (0020250226) with a higher load capacity is intended.

Comparison of installation methods for the outdoor unit
Vaillant offers three basic attachment methods for the aroTHERM outdoor unit, which the investor chooses together with the installation company according to the site layout, type of façade and climatic conditions of the location:
- Free-standing installation on rubber pads (this product) – the simplest and fastest solution, does not load the perimeter wall of the house, suitable for flat compacted ground, terrace or roof with sufficient load capacity. Does not require a concrete foundation or intervention in the façade.
- Wall bracket – saves space on the site, the unit is elevated above the ground, but requires verified wall load capacity and professional anchoring (mechanical or chemical anchors according to the type of façade).
- Elevated mounting base (40 cm) – combines the advantages of free-standing installation with protection against snow accumulation, suitable mainly for locations with regular high snow cover.
In all three cases, the key common denominator is the quality cushioning of the unit using rubber/elastic damping elements, which prevent the transfer of compressor vibrations into the building structure – this function is fulfilled by the pads described in this product.
Installation procedure step by step
- Mark and prepare a flat, drained and sufficiently load-bearing base at the planned installation site of the outdoor unit.
- Verify the spacing and orientation of the pads according to the dimensions of the base of the specific unit model (see the manufacturer's installation manual for the given VWL type).
- Place the pads on the base so that they are parallel and in the same plane (check with a spirit level).
- Mount the outdoor unit on the pads and, if necessary, anchor it mechanically through the prepared holes in the base.
- Check that the unit stands stably and evenly in all directions, and level any unevenness in the base before final fixing.
- Connect the piping, electrical installation and condensate drainage according to the project documentation and put the unit into operation according to the manufacturer's instructions.
