Frequently asked questions

  • How can I verify that “Atmos Boiler Door Hinges” fits my appliance exactly? The most reliable way is to compare the exact type/catalogue designation from the rating plate of your appliance (boiler, storage tank, heater) with the compatibility stated directly in the name of this product (brand Atmos) and in its technical parameters above. If in doubt, write to us with the exact type designation of your appliance (including the serial number, if applicable) - we will be happy to verify the compatibility for you.
  • Why is it important to use the original/compatible part and not a universal replacement? Parts such as seals, sensors or safety components (safety valves, thermal fuses) are usually dimensioned precisely for the parameters of the specific appliance (pressure, temperature, electrical resistance of the sensor) - a wrong part may cause reduced functionality, leaks or, in the case of safety components, even a real safety risk.
  • Does this part have to be installed by a professional? For simpler mechanical parts (e.g. seals, covers, small accessories without a connection to electricity, gas or a pressurised section), a skilled DIY enthusiast can usually manage the replacement after disconnecting the appliance from the power supply and piping. For any intervention in the gas, electrical or pressurised section of the appliance (e.g. sensors directly in the combustion chamber, safety valves, electrical modules), however, we always recommend a service technician - especially as the validity of the warranty for the whole appliance could be affected by the intervention.
  • How do I know that this part is worn and needs to be replaced? Common signs are visible wear/cracking (for seals and rubber parts), a leak of water or flue gas at the part, an error message on the controller display (for sensors and electronic modules), or clearly reduced functionality of the appliance (e.g. irregular burning in the case of burner parts). If in doubt, it is safest to have the condition assessed by a service technician during the regular annual inspection.
  • Is it worth keeping this part at home as a spare? For parts that are normally subject to wear (seals, fuses, small mechanical parts) and whose failure would mean a shutdown of heating or water heating, stocking up is a sensible precaution - especially for an older appliance, for which it may be harder to obtain the part quickly.

Company History

The family company ATMOS was founded in the Czech Republic in 1935. In the beginning, production was focused on gasifier power units for cars and boats under the brand name DOKOGEN, i.e. the same principle used in modern gasifier boilers for wood and coal.

Despite the German occupation and communist dictatorship, it was possible to maintain the development of wood boilers, gasifier units and compressors. In 1980, at the Pragotherm exhibition, the first wood gasifier boilers and wood waste boilers were presented. To date, 90 types of hot water boilers have been developed, for which the company holds 15 patents. One of the first developed boilers was the EKONOMIK boiler in 1968.

To ensure the European market with quality boilers that save the environment and energy, three generations of the Cankář family are currently working in the family business. The founder of the company, Jaroslav Cankář senior, passed away in March 2006 at the age of 94.
