Detailed information

Product detailed description

The composite heating film Hornisse from Poland is used for electric floor and wall heating. This offer (model HO-310) is a package of wide film: a strip 1 m wide and 100 m long, totaling 100 m². When connected to 230 V, it emits heat in the form of infrared radiation, which heats surfaces and objects in the room, and is suitable for both homes and offices.

  • even distribution of heat across the entire heated area,
  • lower energy consumption thanks to radiant heating,
  • fast and dust-free installation,
  • heat source hidden under the floor covering, not visible,
  • short heating-up time and quick response to changes in the set temperature,
  • no mechanical parts, so there is no need for repairs, replacements, or inspections.

How the heating film works

The film heating is based on the radiant principle. After connecting to the electrical network, the thin layer of film heats up and emits heat in the form of infrared radiation. This does not primarily heat the air, but the surfaces and objects in the room, which further release the heat into the space. The result is pleasant, even heat without drafts and without cold spots. The infrared radiation is considered safe and harmless to health. The Hornisse film can be purchased in various widths and lengths, so it can be adapted to a specific room. It is suitable for under the floor, but it can also be used on walls.

Construction and materials used

  • Protective white PET film – its white color results from the density of the material, which better resists abrasion. Therefore, it is not necessary to place a vapor barrier film on top of the installation.
  • Conductive copper strips of high quality.
  • Silver strip with full-surface printing can withstand higher loads.
  • Lamination only on the lower layer of the underlay – only the lower layer is laminated, so the electrical connection between the film and the compression connector is as durable as possible.
  • Low construction height – 5 mm plus the target floor layer.
  • No need to break the floor – the film can be laid on an existing floor.
  • Suitable for dry construction.

Application and installation

The film is intended for heating floors and walls in homes and offices. The 1 m wide version is delivered in this offer as a complete package with a length of 100 m. One strip may be up to 10 m long and the installed power of one strip must not exceed 1200 W, so larger areas are divided into multiple strips. The film can be cut every 25 cm, so it can be adapted to the room layout.

Thanks to its small thickness and flexibility, the film can be laid on an existing floor without breaking it. The electrical connection and temperature regulation setup should be done by a qualified electrician.

Composite film and ladder film – what is the difference

The new generation composite film differs from the ladder film mainly in construction and the way it distributes heat. The composite is made up of multiple layers of material, which makes it more resistant to stress and more flexible; heat is emitted evenly from the entire surface. The ladder film, on the other hand, is constructed from parallel heating strips that resemble a ladder, and heat is mainly generated in the "rungs," so it is more concentrated in defined areas compared to the composite.

Savings and ecology

Lower electricity consumption also means less strain on the environment. It is stated that the film has low CO2 emissions and efficiently manages energy, thus helping to reduce the carbon footprint. It is a choice for those looking for an economical and at the same time more ecological way of heating their home.

Frequently asked questions

What is the width and length of the film in this package?

The film is 100 cm wide and 100 m long in the package, so it corresponds to an area of 100 m².

What is the maximum length of one strip?

One strip can be up to 10 m long and its installed power must not exceed 1200 W.

Is it necessary to put a vapor barrier on the film?

It is not necessary on top of the installation. The film is protected by a white PET layer that better resists abrasion.
