Detailed information

Product detailed description

The hydraulic separator IVAR.HS 220 (code IVA49043689) is used where multiple heat sources operate on the primary side or multiple heating circuits on the secondary side. It hydraulically separates the boiler circuit from the consumer circuits and balances dynamic pressures according to the flow on both sides, so that the pumps do not influence each other. It connects to the horizontal distribution manifolds IVAR.HC-DN 40 and IVAR.HC-DN 50.

How it works

The main chamber with a diameter of 220 mm slows down the flow from the input 1.00 m/s to 0.26 m/s, thus limiting water mixing. The stratification baffle maintains temperature layering and helps to separate air, impurities and sediment. Connections 2 × 1/2" F and 1 × 2" F are used for the sensor, air vent and sludge drain.

Technical data

  • performance up to 750 kW at ΔT 20 K, flow 33 000 l/h
  • primary and secondary connections with flanges DN 100 with 8 holes
  • axial distance of connections: primary circuit 600 mm, secondary 300 mm
  • max. 10 bar and +100 °C
  • steel FE EN 10217-1, insulation Trocellen C080 RN2 thickness 30 mm (λ 0.034 W/m·K)
  • dimensions 1546 × 386 × 603 mm

Installation

The body of the separator with thermal insulation is included in the packaging. The floor support IVAR.CONNECTA PHS (IVA49018215), flange gaskets CONNECTA F (IVA49065735) and the set of bolts, nuts and gaskets CONNECTA VC (IVA49156710) are ordered separately. The primary and secondary circuits must have their own circulation pumps. The installation location must be dry, protected from frost and UV radiation and sufficiently load-bearing. The installation must be carried out by a professional company, and the system must be flushed before starting.

Frequently asked questions

When is a hydraulic separator needed?
When multiple heat sources operate on the primary side or multiple heating circuits with their own pumps on the secondary side. The separator balances dynamic pressures between the circuits and eliminates problems with flow fluctuations and head pressure.

Must each circuit have its own pump?
Yes. When using IVAR.HS 220, the primary and secondary circuits must be equipped with circulation pumps; the primary then operates with a constant and the secondary with a variable flow.

Does the separator also separate air and sludge?
Yes, the stratification baffle in the main chamber supports the separation of air and impurities and the settling of sludge. The threaded connections 1/2" F and 2" F are used for air venting and sludge draining.

Is the floor support included in the packaging?
No, only the body of the separator with thermal insulation is delivered. The floor support IVAR.CONNECTA PHS (IVA49018215), flange gaskets and the set of bolts are ordered separately.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.

Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.

Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.

“Made in Italy” adds value

IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.

The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.

Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.

The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.

As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
