IVAR.IVN464 54 mm – R 2" external thread coupling, crimped, stainless steel AISI 304
Code: IVN464.5420Product detailed description
If you need to connect a 54 mm stainless steel compressed pipe to a valve, device or fitting with an internal thread, the IVAR.IVN464 54 mm – R 2" connecting sleeve is suitable. One end has a compression fitting with an EPDM O-ring, the other has an external R 2" thread; both parts are joined by a nut with a flat gasket. The sleeve is made of stainless steel AISI 304 (1.4301), the total length is 104 mm and the dimension Z is 67 mm.
Technical data at a glance
- maximum operating pressure PN 16, vacuum down to -0.8 bar (absolute pressure 0.2 bar)
- operating temperature -20 °C to +85 °C, maximum +120 °C
- anti-freeze mixture with a concentration of max. 50 %
- jaw compression with contour M
What it is and is not suitable for
The sleeve is suitable for closed heating and cooling systems, solar circuits, compressed air and vacuum, inert and technical gases, technical and operating liquids, industrial applications and waste or rainwater. It is not suitable for potable water – it carries the symbol of unsuitability for potable water together with the AISI 304 logo, dimensions and traceability code.
Secure connection
The LBP (Leak Before Press) O-ring with a segmented profile causes a liquid leak during pressure testing if the compression joint was not properly compressed; the compression is also indicated by an orange stripe. Seal the thread with a material free of chlorides, as recommended by the system instructions. According to the instructions, bimetallic corrosion may occur when stainless steel comes into direct contact with carbon steel, so insert a coupling made of non-ferrous material between them. Leave the installation to a professional who follows the manufacturer's instructions; before starting the heating system, flush the system, the manufacturer recommends treating the water with the GEL.LONG LIFE 100 preparation.
The IVAR.IVN464 range includes sizes from 15 mm – R 1/2" up to 54 mm – R 2".

Frequently asked questions
Where is the IVAR.IVN464 54 mm – R 2" sleeve screwed in?
The external R 2" thread is screwed into a valve, device or fitting with an internal thread, and the compression end is compressed onto a 54 mm stainless steel pipe. It is intended for closed heating and cooling systems, not for potable water.
What material should be used to seal the thread?
Use only sealants free of chlorides, for example, a chloride-free Teflon tape or hemp with a chloride-free paste – as stated in the stainless steel system instructions.
Can I connect the sleeve directly to a carbon steel fitting?
Direct contact between stainless steel and carbon steel can cause bimetallic corrosion according to the instructions. A coupling made of non-ferrous material reduces the risk, and a plug made of a colored metal at least 50 mm long completely prevents it; stainless steel has no problems with bronze, copper or brass.
How is the sleeve compressed and how can I check the connection?
It is compressed with jaws with contour M. An un-compressed connection will reveal a liquid leak during pressure testing via the LBP O-ring, and the orange stripe also indicates the compression status.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.
Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.
“Made in Italy” adds value
IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.
The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.
Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.
The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.
As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
