The PNI Safe House Dual Gas 250 is a kit for spaces where combustible gas or carbon monoxide may leak – a boiler room, a kitchen with a gas appliance or a garage. This pack contains two complete kits, i.e. two detectors and two solenoid valves with a 3/4 inch internal thread, plus the power and connection cables.
Each detector has two semiconductor sensors: one for carbon monoxide (CO), the other for the remaining gases. It recognises natural gas (methane, propane, butane, ethane), gaseous hydrocarbons (propylene, butylene) and coal gas. The alarm threshold is 7 % of the lower explosive limit. On alarm, a siren above 85 dB sounds and the ALARM, FAULT, POWER and TEST LED indicators on the front light up.
In the event of a gas leak, the detector sends a 9–12 V pulse to the solenoid valve, which shuts off the gas supply; the valve can also be closed by hand. The detector does not detect smoke, fire or gases outside the groups listed.
Installation and compatibility
The detector is powered by 230 V AC and draws 3 W at most. It is intended for indoor use only, at humidity up to 95 %. After switching on, the sensor warms up for 180 seconds. The detector measures 72 × 33 × 123 mm (200 g) and the valve 65 × 45 × 105 mm (380 g). The cable from the detector to the valve is 90 cm long and the mains cable 140 cm.
The valve has a 3/4" internal thread, works at a pressure of 100 kPa at most and at temperatures from −10 to +60 °C. Installing the valve on the gas line must be done by a qualified person authorised to work on gas installations. The kit does not replace the inspection of the gas and flue system.
