The PNI Safe House Smart Gas 300 WiFi is a gas detector and solenoid valve kit that also notifies you of a leak on your phone. The pack contains two complete kits, for example for a kitchen and a boiler room. The detector connects to your home Wi-Fi network and is added to the PNI Smart or Tuya Smart app. With every alarm you receive a notification on your phone.
The detector recognises natural gas (methane, propane, butane, ethane), LPG and gaseous hydrocarbons (propylene, butylene). The alarm is triggered at 7% of the lower explosive limit: a red LED flashes and a continuous siren with a volume of 85 dB sounds. If the detector is connected to the valve, it sends it an electrical pulse and the 3/4" valve shuts off the gas supply.
In the app you can share the device with other users, start a test alarm, rename the detector and create automations together with other compatible Tuya devices. You can silence the audible alarm by unplugging the detector from the socket, or wait until the gas concentration drops. After the cause has been removed, the gas is opened again by lifting the red button on the valve. Never ignore an alarm.
Installation and compatibility
The detector is powered from the 110–240 V AC mains and consumes less than 3 W. Wi-Fi works on the 2.4 GHz band, with a transmission range of up to 100 m in open space. The detector measures 123 × 78 × 40 mm (cable 132 cm), the valve 125 × 75 × 55 mm (cable 85 cm). The operating temperature is −26 to +80 °C.
Installing the valve on the gas pipe must be done by a person authorised and qualified to work on gas installations. The kit does not replace the inspection of the gas installation.
