The PNI CBM-2 is a combiner box where the wires from the photovoltaic panels come together before they are connected to the inverter. Joining the strings in one place means less cabling, a clearer layout and easier maintenance. It is designed for single-phase solar systems.
The box accepts two panel strings (15 A per string) and routes them to a single DC output to the inverter. It includes DC surge protection and a fuse holder, so it protects the equipment against overvoltage and makes it easier to break the circuit when working on the installation.
The enclosure is rated IP65, can be installed outdoors and, according to the manufacturer, prevents damage to the components from UV radiation, acids, humidity, mould or rodents.
Installation
The combiner box is wall-mounted near the panels or near the point where the cabling runs to the inverter. The inputs have PG09 cable glands, the output PG21 and the earthing PG13.5. The input wire cross-section is 4 mm². Wiring of a DC circuit with a voltage of up to 1000 V must be carried out by a person with the appropriate electrotechnical qualification.
Important before ordering
The combiner box is designed for two input strings – if you have more strings, you need a larger model. Choose it according to the input voltage and current of your inverter.
