The PNI CBT-3 is a metal combiner box that brings protection and disconnection of both the direct-current (DC) and alternating-current (AC) side of a three-phase photovoltaic system into one enclosure. It lets you run fewer cables directly from the panels to the inverter and makes the installation tidier and easier to maintain.
On the DC side you can connect 4 panel strings, each with a current of up to 15 A, and the box merges them into a single output with a current of up to 60 A. Surge protection is fitted on both the DC and the AC side. The AC side is designed for three-phase voltage of 380–440 V and a current of up to 63 A.
The cabinet is made of metal and has an IP65 rating, so it is also suitable for outdoor use. Natural cooling is provided by the metal housing itself, without a fan.
Installation and connection
The dimensions are approximately 440 × 330 × 180 mm and the weight is around 10 kg. It can be mounted on a wall; the photos also show mounting hardware and keys. Conductor cross-sections: 4 mm² at the input of each string, 12 mm² on the DC output, 10 mm² on the AC side and 6 mm² for earthing.
Important: the box works with high direct-current voltage and with mains voltage. Connection to the grid, wiring of the panels and commissioning must be carried out by a qualified electrician certified for PV systems.
