The PNI GD-01 is a household gas detector that monitors the air in a room and warns you when combustible gas leaks. It responds to LPG (propane-butane), natural gas and coal gas, and the alarm is triggered at a concentration of 25% of the lower explosive limit (LEL).

It warns you in two ways at once: a sharp beeping sound and LED indicators on the front panel, which also show other states of the device. The white housing with rounded edges fits in a kitchen, boiler room or garage.

The detector is sold on its own, without a solenoid valve. It has a 12 V output and, according to the manufacturer, can be combined with the PNI V-02, DCF-80 and DCF-90 solenoid valves, which shut off the gas supply after an alarm. Installation and compatibility

The detector runs from a 230 V AC socket, draws less than 1.7 W and works at temperatures from −10 to +50 °C. Its dimensions are 110 x 73 x 41 mm. Placement depends on the type of gas: natural gas is lighter than air, so the detector is mounted higher up; LPG is heavier and collects near the floor, so it is mounted low. The detector itself does not interfere with the gas line. Installing a solenoid valve on a gas pipe, however, must be done by a qualified person authorised to work on gas installations.

Frequently asked questions

Is a solenoid valve included?
No. Only the detector with a user manual is supplied. The solenoid valve is bought separately.

Can the detector be used for carbon monoxide (CO)?
The manufacturer states detection of LPG, natural gas and coal gas. Do not use it as a stand-alone carbon monoxide alarm.
