PNI SafeHouse HS281 is a smart carbon monoxide (CO) detector that connects to your home Wi-Fi network and works with the Tuya Smart mobile app. It is powered by two AA batteries (DC 3 V), which are included in the packaging. When the device detects CO, it activates an audio alarm with a volume of approximately 85 dB and simultaneously flashes an LED indicator. Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that human senses cannot detect, so you will only become aware of its presence thanks to such a detector.

Signal Meaning

The detector informs you of different states using a combination of LED color and beeping rhythm. When CO is detected, the red LED blinks four times quickly and four beeps sound, repeating the whole cycle every five seconds.

When the batteries are running low, the yellow LED blinks once every 30 seconds and one beep sounds. A sensor fault is indicated by two yellow flashes and two beeps in the same 30-second interval. The end of the device's life is signaled by two yellow flashes every 30 seconds, followed by one long and one short tone.

Pairing with your phone is done in just a few steps. Download the Tuya Smart app using the QR code, enable location and Bluetooth on your phone, and in the app select "Add Device," then "Sensors" and "CO Detector (WiFi)." Next, enter the Wi-Fi network password, which must operate in the 2.4 GHz band.

On the detector itself, press the button three times in a row until the green LED starts blinking rapidly. The app will confirm the connection, and you can finish the process by pressing the "Done" button.
