IVAR.IVN481 28 mm – R3/4" (code IVN481.2834) is a stainless steel AISI 304 (1.4301) adapter with two different ends: a press-fit collar for a pipe with an outer diameter of 28 mm and an external thread R3/4". You can use it wherever a pressed stainless steel pipe continues into a heating fitting or pipe fitting with an internal thread. The press-fit collar corresponds to the pipe diameter, so the adapter does not reduce the pipe size.

The adapter is not suitable for potable water. You will find the AISI 304 logo, dimensions, traceability code, and a symbol on the body indicating that it is not suitable for potable water.
Pressing the 28 mm collar
For this size, a portable pressing tool with low force (up to 17 kN) is sufficient, which according to the manufacturer's instructions presses approximately to a diameter of 28 mm, with single-jaw tools with an M profile. V-profile jaws are prohibited for all diameters. An unpressed joint is indicated by an orange stripe on the collar and an LBP (Leak Before Press) sealing O-ring with a broken profile, through which liquid leaks during pressure testing until the joint is pressed.
External thread side R3/4"
Seal the thread only with material free of chlorides – a chloride-free Teflon tape, hemp with a chloride-free sealing paste, or a chloride-free sealing tape, otherwise local corrosion of the stainless steel may occur. Stainless steel is compatible with brass, bronze, or copper fittings; if it is to come into direct contact with carbon steel, the manufacturer recommends inserting a colored metal spacer at least 50 mm long between them.

Is the IVAR.IVN481 adapter suitable for potable water distribution?
No. Stainless steel AISI 304 fittings of this series are not intended for potable water, as indicated by the symbol on their body. They belong to closed heating and cooling circuits, solar systems, or compressed air and technical gas distribution systems.
What pressing tool do I need for the 28 mm collar?
A portable tool with low force up to 17 kN with single-jaw tools with an M profile is sufficient. V-profile jaws must not be used.
How to seal the external thread R3/4"?
Use only sealing materials free of chlorides – Teflon tape, hemp with paste, or sealing tape in a chloride-free finish. Chlorides from the sealing material can locally damage the stainless steel.
How to determine that the joint is not yet pressed?
There is an orange indicator stripe on the collar, and the LBP O-ring with a broken profile causes the unpressed joint to leak during pressure testing. This way, you can detect a faulty joint before commissioning.
