Shelly 1 Gen4 is a single-channel smart relay that fits into a wall installation box behind a switch or socket. You can control the switched circuit from your phone, by voice or automatically on a schedule. In heating applications, use it wherever a device has to be switched on or off remotely or a control signal has to be sent.
Its main advantage is the potential-free (dry) contact: the switching circuit is isolated from the relay's own power supply. This makes it suitable for devices that only wait for two terminals to be connected, for example a boiler with a room thermostat input. Before wiring, check in the boiler manual that it has such an input. The contact handles a load of up to 16 A at 240 V~ and 10 A at 30 V⎓.
The relay uses a new-generation chip and supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ax, Bluetooth 5, Zigbee and Matter. You can therefore add it to Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings or Home Assistant systems. It also works as a Zigbee signal repeater, which helps in houses with weaker coverage.
You can run your own logic directly on the device: 20 schedules, 20 webhooks, scripts and MQTT are available. It works without a permanent cloud connection. Combined with a temperature sensor, for example Shelly H&T Gen3, it makes simple room-temperature control.
Installation and wiring
- Dimensions of 37 × 42 × 16 mm allow installation in a standard installation box.
- Screw terminals for conductors of 0.5–4 mm², strip length 6–7 mm.
- When powered from the mains, the neutral conductor must also be connected. The circuit must be protected by a circuit breaker with B or C characteristic and a rated current of max. 16 A.
- Connection to the electrical mains may only be carried out by a person with the appropriate electrical qualification.

No. If you want to measure consumption, choose the Shelly 1PM Gen4 model.
Does it work without the internet?
Schedules and scripts run directly in the relay; internet is needed for remote access from your phone when you are away from home.
Can I power it with low voltage?
Yes, it supports 12 V⎓ as well as 24–48 V⎓.
