Shelly 1 Gen4 is a single-channel smart relay that fits into an installation box behind a switch or socket. You can control the switched circuit from your mobile device, by voice, or automatically according to a schedule. In the heating area, it is suitable for switching devices or sending commands remotely.
Its main advantage is a no-voltage (dry) contact: the switching circuit is separated from the relay power supply. It is therefore also suitable for devices that only wait for a connection between two wires, for example, a boiler with an input for a room thermostat. Before connecting, check in the boiler manual whether it has such an input. The contact can handle a load of up to 16 A at 240 V~ and 10 A at 30 V⎓.
The relay has a new generation chip and supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ax, Bluetooth 5, Zigbee and Matter. You can therefore integrate it into systems such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings or Home Assistant. It also acts as a Zigbee signal repeater, thus helping in homes with poor coverage.
You can run your own logic directly in the device: 20 schedules, 20 webhooks, scripts and MQTT are available. This works without a constant cloud connection. In combination with a temperature sensor, for example, the Shelly H&T Gen3, a simple room temperature control system can be created.
Installation and wiring
- Dimensions 37 × 42 × 16 mm allow installation in a standard installation box.
- Screw terminals for conductors 0.5–4 mm², insulation stripping length 6–7 mm.
- When powered from the mains, it is necessary to connect the neutral conductor as well. The circuit must be protected by a circuit breaker with characteristic B or C with a rated current of max. 16 A.
- Connection to the electrical network must be carried out only by a person with the appropriate electrical qualification.

No. If you want to measure consumption, choose the Shelly 1PM Gen4 model.
Does it work without the internet?
Schedules and scripts run directly in the relay, internet is needed for remote access from a mobile device outside the home.
Can I power it with low voltage?
Yes, it supports 12 V⎓ as well as 24–48 V⎓.
