The SilverCloud 850VA is a backup power supply with a pure sine wave output. The manufacturer intended it for protecting solid-fuel boilers, motor-driven equipment and other electronics sensitive to short as well as longer power cuts – including a circulation pump and a heating control unit. The output power is 850 VA (600 W).
The battery is not included in the package. The UPS connects to an external 12 V lead-acid battery with a capacity of 30 to 200 Ah, so you determine the backup time yourself by the size of the battery. Connection cables (red and black, 80 cm each) and clamps for a car battery are supplied.
The input tolerates a mains voltage of 140–280 V, the inverter output is 230 V (± 2 %) and in AVR mode the voltage is kept within the range of 195–245 V. Switching to battery typically takes 6 ms, at most 10 ms. The LCD display with a menu shows the status, and via USB and the Power Monitor software the UPS can be monitored from a computer. The unit protects against overload, short circuit, overheating and battery over-charging or deep discharge, and it also has telephone line protection.
Wiring and limitations
The two Schuko outlets can handle 600 W in total. Entrust connecting the battery and wiring to the mains to a person with electrotechnical qualification. With an overload of 110–125 % the unit switches off after 30 s, with a higher load faster. The alarm volume is at most 60 dB.
