The SilverCloud SafePC 650AVR is a backup power supply for a computer, monitor, router and other smaller electronics. When the mains voltage fails, it switches to its own battery within 2 to 6 ms, so the devices keep running and you have time to safely finish your work. The output is 600 VA (360 W) and the 12 V / 7 Ah battery is inside the unit.
The unit has a built-in AVR stabiliser: when the voltage in the socket fluctuates, it adjusts it to 195–245 V so the battery is not drained unnecessarily. It also protects against overload, short circuit, overheating, and overcharging or deep discharge of the battery.
The LCD display and audible signals warn you about low battery capacity, switching to battery and overload. With the USB cable from the package and the enclosed software you can monitor the UPS from the computer. The two Schuko sockets are for connecting devices and the two RJ connectors protect a fixed telephone line.
Use and limitations
The output is a modified sine wave, so the unit is suitable for office and small electronics. Do not use it with pumps, motors, laser printers or other inductive loads. For a PC setup with a 15" monitor the manufacturer states a backup time of 10 to 20 minutes; charging takes approximately 12 hours.
