Vaillant flexoTHERM exclusive VWF 87/4 is a premium compact ground/water heat pump (expandable to water/water) from the fourth generation of the flexoTHERM exclusive series. In the power class of approximately 8.8 kW at point B0/W35, it covers heating and hot water preparation for a medium-sized family house, with the entire technology hidden in a single elegant indoor cabinet with a white lacquered casing — no technology is visible from the outside. The offered set also includes the passive cooling module VWZ NC 11, the touch controller sensoCOMFORT 720 (VRC 720), and the internet gateway VR 940f for control via a mobile app, making it a complete system ready for heating, cooling, and remote management.

How passive cooling works with the VWZ NC 11 module
The passive cooling module VWZ NC 11 uses the low, stable temperature of the ground or groundwater in summer months to provide pleasant interior cooling without the need to start the heat pump compressor. Cold brine from ground boreholes or a ground collector is introduced into the heating system via a plate heat exchanger, so the electricity consumption corresponds practically only to the operation of circulation pumps — the actual cooling efficiency (EER) is therefore significantly higher than with conventional air conditioning. The VWZ NC 11 module is designed for the power range of 5 to 11 kW, precisely matching the model VWF 87/4. Passive cooling works best in combination with floor or wall heating, or with cooling convectors, and is fully controlled via the sensoCOMFORT regulation, which automatically switches between heating, hot water heating, and cooling and protects against condensation on pipes and floors by monitoring the dew point.
sensoCOMFORT VRC 720 controller
sensoCOMFORT 720 is a central touch controller with a color display that controls up to several heating circuits, hot water preparation, and the passive cooling function in one device. The regulation is equithermal (evaluates the outside temperature and adjusts the power smoothly according to need), which significantly reduces operating costs compared to simple on/off operation. The controller allows setting weekly heating and cooling programs, vacation mode, party mode, and one-time TUV heating function, and thanks to the intuitive menu in Slovak, operation is simple even without assistance from a technician.
Internet gateway VR 940f
The VR 940f module connects the heat pump to the home WiFi network and enables remote control and monitoring via the myVAILLANT (multiMATIC) app from a phone or tablet from anywhere. The user sees current consumption, operation history, can change temperatures and programs remotely, and receives a direct notification on the mobile phone in case of a fault. The gateway also facilitates remote diagnostics for the service technician, reducing the time of any potential service intervention.
Installation and notes
flexoTHERM exclusive VWF 87/4 is installed exclusively inside the building (technical room, boiler room, basement) — only the pipe of the ground collector or borehole leads outside, no outdoor unit is installed, which eliminates the risk of frost and noise restrictions for neighbors. Connection requires a qualified heating technician, inspection of the electrical installation (three-phase connection), and for full use of the cooling function, a properly dimensioned low-temperature heating system. Due to the weight and dimensions of the device, transportation and unloading are handled as oversized/heavy goods (pallet transport, prepayment by transfer).

Is a ground borehole necessary or is a ground collector sufficient? Both sources are possible; the choice depends on the size of the plot and the geological survey — a vertical borehole is chosen in case of space shortage, otherwise a ground collector laid in a non-freezing depth.
Can cooling be done via radiators? Passive cooling works most efficiently with surface (floor/wall) heating; for radiators, we recommend consulting a designer due to the risk of condensation.
What is the lifespan of the heat pump? With regular service (recommended annual inspection), the typical lifespan of the compressor and main components is 15 - 20 years.
