Detailed information

Product detailed description

Vaillant eloBLOCK VE 14/14 EU III is a wall-mounted electric boiler with an output of 14 kW, which covers heating and heat generation for medium-sized, well-insulated family houses up to approx. 140 m². It is the first of the "medium" outputs in the eloBLOCK range, popular for renovations without a gas connection. The boiler replaces a classic gas or solid fuel boiler where gas is not available, or serves as a modern replacement for an old, worn-out electric boiler during a boiler room renovation.

The boiler is designed for installation into a heating circuit with radiators, underfloor heating, or a combination of both, and comes with everything needed for immediate connection - a highly efficient circulation pump, an expansion vessel, a safety valve, a pressure gauge, a thermometer, and a digital control and information system on the front panel. This makes installation quick and eliminates the need to purchase any additional components for the primary circuit.

Technical Characteristics

The model VE 14/14 belongs to the Vaillant eloBLOCK VE. /14 EU III range of electric boilers, which is manufactured in output levels from 6 to 28 kW - you can choose exactly according to the heat loss of your building, so you don't pay for output you won't actually use, nor risk undersizing the heat source.

  • Nominal heating output - 14 kW, with the possibility of partial load at 1/2 or 1/3 output according to current heat demand
  • Electrical connection - 400 V / 50 Hz, three-phase connection, 25 A fuse
  • Dimensions (H × W × D) - 740 × 410 × 310 mm (height × width × depth)
  • Weight - approximately 33.3 kg
  • Water volume in the boiler - 10 litres in the boiler body
  • Expansion vessel - 7 litres, pressure 0.75 bar
  • Maximum operating pressure - 3 bar
  • Maximum settable heating water temperature - 70 °C
  • Heating circuit connections - 3/4" for the heating circuit and for a possible DHW tank connection
  • Protection rating - IP40
  • Space heating energy class - D (space heating)
  • Number of heating elements - 1 (with partial output switching)
  • Integrated accessories - highly efficient circulation pump, expansion vessel, safety valve, pressure gauge, thermometer, flow temperature sensor, pressure sensor

The control electronics of the VE 14/14 boiler continuously evaluate the flow temperature and system pressure and switch between the individual output levels of the heating element according to current demand - this means the boiler doesn't work unnecessarily at full output when half or a third of the output is sufficient, saving electricity even during long-term operation. The boiler is designed exclusively for a closed heating circuit (not for instantaneous heating of drinking water) - however, in combination with an indirect DHW tank, it can fully ensure hot water heating for the household as well.

Installation and Electrical Connection

The model VE 14/14 connects to a three-phase 400 V/50 Hz supply, and the supply line must be protected by a 25 A circuit breaker - the exact dimension of the supply cable and the type of circuit breaker (characteristic B or C according to the distribution network) must be designed and installed by a qualified electrician with a valid inspection report, as this is an appliance with high current draw. We recommend consulting the sizing of the house's main protective element (main breaker before the electricity meter) with the electricity distributor in advance, especially if you plan to combine the boiler with other large appliances (heat pump, cooker, electric car charger).

During installation, we also recommend considering these points:

  • Using the low night tariff (dual tariff meter) - if the house has a dual-tariff electricity meter with a relay, the boiler can use cheaper night-time electricity to heat up the thermal mass of the building or the DHW tank.
  • Placing the boiler as close as possible to the heating circuit distribution to minimise heat losses in the piping and the length of the electrical supply.
  • Ensuring sufficient space around the boiler for service access and ventilation of the boiler room.
  • Adding a room thermostat or Vaillant weather-compensated control (e.g. sensoCOMFORT VRC 720 or VRT 350f) for more precise and economical temperature control in individual rooms.

Use, Compatibility and Control

The VE 14/14 electric boiler is fully compatible with common heating systems - radiators (panel and column type), underfloor heating, or a combination of both via a mixing station. The boiler can be complemented with an indirect hot water tank (for example the VIH or uniSTOR range), creating a complete source of heat and hot water for the household. The control system can be extended with room thermostats, weekly programmers, or modern weather-compensated control with a mobile app output, which evaluates the outdoor temperature and regulates the heating water temperature accordingly - this significantly increases comfort and operating savings.

If you are not sure whether an output of 14 kW will be sufficient for your building, our range also includes the higher-output model eloBLOCK VE 18/14. Conversely, for smaller buildings we recommend the eloBLOCK VE 6/14 model, which is sufficient for a smaller heated area at a lower purchase and operating price. Intermediate outputs VE 9/14 or VE 12/14 are also available, in case your heat loss does not exactly match either of the boundary outputs.

The boiler is also suitable as:

  • The main heat source when there is no gas connection or a ban on burning solid fuels in the given location.
  • An additional/backup source alongside a heat pump, especially in a bivalent setup at very low outdoor temperatures.
  • A temporary solution during renovation, until a gas connection or other permanent source is realised.
  • A solution for recreational properties - cottages and cabins, where consumption is only occasional and investment in a gas connection would not pay off.

Maintenance and Service

The eloBLOCK VE 14/14 electric boiler is a maintenance-free heat source compared to gas condensing boilers or solid fuel boilers - it does not contain a burner, flue, or chimney that would need regular cleaning. Nevertheless, we recommend:

  • Having an annual service inspection performed by a qualified technician - checking the tightness of the circuit, the function of the safety valve, the pressure in the expansion vessel, and the condition of the heating element.
  • Monitoring the heating water pressure on the boiler's pressure gauge and, if it drops below the recommended value, topping up the system according to the instructions in the operating manual.
  • In areas with harder water, consider treating the fill water (softening/demineralisation), which extends the life of the heating element and reduces the risk of scale deposits.
  • Keeping free space around the boiler and not covering the ventilation openings of the housing.

Thanks to their simple design and the absence of a combustion process, the service life of electric boilers in the eloBLOCK range is generally high and the failure rate low, which, combined with a 2-year warranty, represents a safe and long-term investment.

Why Choose the eloBLOCK VE 14/14

Vaillant is one of the most trusted brands of heating technology in Europe, and the eloBLOCK range brings the same quality of workmanship to the electric boiler segment as you know from the ecoTEC gas condensing boilers. The VE 14/14 model with an output of 14 kW is the first of the "medium" outputs in the eloBLOCK range, popular for renovations without a gas connection, making it a well-considered choice for medium-sized, well-insulated family houses up to approx. 140 m². The boiler arrives fully ready for connection, including the pump and all necessary accessories, so the electrician on site only has to deal with the connection to the electrical grid and to the existing heating circuit.

When choosing the right output, it is worth basing your decision on the actual calculated heat loss of the building (or a designer's recommendation), not just an approximate area - the quality of insulation, ceiling height, the number and size of windows, and the location all have a significant effect on the required output. If in doubt, we are happy to help with choosing the right model from the entire eloBLOCK range as well as with designing suitable controls.

Approximate Operating Costs

The exact operating consumption of an electric boiler is primarily determined by the heat loss of the specific building, the quality of insulation, the set room temperature, and the length of the heating season - the following calculation is therefore only approximate and serves as a rough guide. With a model assumption of approximately 1,500 hours of equivalent full-output operation during the heating season (typical for medium-sized, well-insulated family houses up to approx. 140 m²), the annual consumption of the VE 14/14 model would reach approximately 21,000 kWh, which, at current electricity prices ranging from approx. €0.18 to €0.28/kWh (depending on tariff and supplier), represents approximate annual costs of around €3,780 - €5,880.

Actual consumption can be significantly reduced by using a dual-tariff metering with a night relay (shifting consumption to the cheaper night-time band), quality insulation of the building, weather-compensated control based on outdoor temperature, and reasonable temperature setback settings during absence or at night. For an accurate estimate of operating costs for your specific building, we recommend consulting a heating designer or an energy auditor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about the eloBLOCK VE 14/14

Is the eloBLOCK VE 14/14 electric boiler suitable as the sole heat source in a house?

Yes, the VE 14/14 boiler is designed as a fully-fledged standalone heating source for medium-sized, well-insulated family houses up to approx. 140 m². No additional boiler or supplementary heating is needed, provided the output is correctly sized to the building's heat loss.

Do I need an electrical installation inspection report before connecting the boiler?

Yes, given the high current draw (25 A fuse), the supply line and the connection of the boiler itself must be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the installation must comply with valid STN standards. Without an inspection report, the service technician will not put the boiler into operation.

Can the boiler be connected to a night tariff (dual tariff meter)?

Yes, the boiler can be connected via a dual-tariff relay so that most of the consumption is shifted to the cheaper night-time band - combined with an accumulation tank or greater thermal inertia of the building, this can achieve noticeable savings on the electricity bill.

Is it possible to connect a hot water tank to the boiler?

Yes, the boiler is prepared for connecting an external indirect DHW tank (e.g. the Vaillant VIH or uniSTOR range) via the 3/4" heating circuit connections, so it can also handle hot water preparation for the whole household.

What is the difference between an electric boiler and an electric convector?

An electric boiler (eloBLOCK range) heats water, which then circulates to radiators or underfloor heating throughout the house - it is a central heat source. An electric convector (eloMENT range) is a standalone heating unit without a water distribution system, which heats directly only the room in which it is installed.

Is the VE 14/14 model sufficient for a house with underfloor heating?

Yes, the VE 14/14 boiler is suitable for combination with underfloor heating, radiators, or both systems at once via a mixing station - the flow water temperature control is set according to the type of circuit.

How do I find out whether this model or a different output is more suitable for my house?

As a guide, base your decision on the building's heat loss - if you have an energy certificate or a heating design available, follow the stated output. If in doubt, it is better to choose one output level higher, since the VE 14/14 model also works at partial output and does not waste energy when full output is not needed.

A Avatar of author 05/09/2026 16:14
