Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I choose the right output for a Viessmann electric boiler? Just like with gas boilers, base your choice on the calculated heat loss of the heated building. For electric boilers, it is also crucial to check whether your building's (or apartment's) electrical connection capacity allows it - higher outputs (from roughly 12 kW upward) usually require a three-phase 400 V connection and a correspondingly sized main circuit breaker, which can be confirmed by a revision technician or the electricity distributor directly.
- Is an electric boiler worth it compared to a gas or solid-fuel boiler? An electric boiler has the lowest purchase price and the simplest installation (no flue gas extraction is needed, since nothing is combusted), but running costs on electricity are usually higher than for gas or wood/coal for the same amount of delivered heat. It is particularly suitable where gas is not available, as a supplementary/backup source, or for buildings with low consumption (well-insulated new builds, cottages, apartments).
- How does an electric boiler regulate output? Most models switch individual heating elements on/off in stages, while some more modern models also allow smoother output modulation - this affects the smoothness of heating and partly also the service life of the switching elements.
- Can I install this electric boiler myself? Connection to the electrical network, inspection and commissioning must be carried out by a person with electrical qualifications in accordance with the applicable standard STN 33 2000 and related regulations - self-installation is not permitted, either in terms of warranty or safety.
- Can this electric boiler also heat domestic hot water? For many models, yes, usually in combination with a separate hot water tank and a switching (3-way) valve that switches between the heating circuit and heating the tank - the exact option and required accessories for this specific model can be found in the technical parameters above, or you can consult our customer service.

About the company
Viessmann Group is one of the international manufacturers of heating, industrial and cooling systems. This family business, founded in 1917, employs 12,300 people and the group's turnover reaches 2.65 billion Euros.
With 22 production plants in 12 countries, 68 representations in 31 countries, as well as 120 sales companies, Viessmann is truly internationally oriented. 56 % of turnover comes from abroad.
Complete Viessmann product range
The complete Viessmann product range includes individual solutions with efficient systems and outputs from 1.5 to 120,000 kW for all application areas and all countries. These include wall-mounted condensing units with outputs from 1.9 to 150 kW and stationary condensing systems from 1.9 to 6,000 kW, as well as block combined heat and power units (BCHP) from 1.0 to 530 kWel respectively from 5.3 to 660 kWth. Block combined heat and power units (BCHP) are designed for natural gas/biogas.
The range of regenerative energy systems includes thermal solar systems with flat collectors and vacuum tube collectors for heating domestic hot water, supporting heating and solar cooling of buildings, special heating boilers and combustion units from 4 kW to 50 MW for pellets, heat pumps with outputs from 1.7 to 2,000 kW for the use of heat from the ground, groundwater and ambient air, as well as photovoltaic systems.
For district heating networks and biogas communities, Viessmann also offers everything from one source – from the first feasibility study and planning documents, through the supply of all necessary components such as biogas systems, heat sources, block combined heat and power units, underground heat pipes and apartment delivery stations, to construction and operation.
With an extensive range of temperature-controlled rooms, powerful cooling boxes and units, cooling solutions for food retail as well as accessories and services – the Viessmann group also covers the field of cooling.
