When to choose this size: If the supply pipe is 3/4" and you need to reduce it to a standard 1/2" connection for a mixer tap, this triangular version handles it without any extra fittings.

The faceted head looks more modern than the smooth oval version, and inside it again has a reliable ceramic cartridge instead of a rubber seal.
