Detailed information

Product detailed description

aroTHERM vWL Split plus 55/8.2 230V outdoor unit Split plus

VWL 55/8.2 AS 230V is an outdoor unit of the air-to-water split heat pump from the aroTHERM Split plus series (generation 8.2) with refrigerant R32. The outdoor unit contains the compressor and evaporator; the refrigerant circuit is led to the internal hydraulic tower uniTOWER, where heat is transferred to the heating water and domestic hot water (DHW).

The aroTHERM Split plus VWL 55/8.2 AS outdoor unit is the smaller of the two performance levels of the new generation 8.2 heat pumps from Vaillant with refrigerant R32. At an ambient air temperature of A7/W35, it achieves a heating output of approximately 4.5–4.9 kW with a COP of up to 4.9–5.0, which places the system in the energy efficiency class A+++ at 35 °C. In cooling mode (A35/W18), it achieves a performance of approximately 5.3 kW with an EER of around 4.2. The maximum electrical power consumption of the unit is approximately 2.7 kW.

Basic information

  • Manufacturer: Vaillant
  • Product code: 0010039764
  • Nominal thermal output: approx. 5.3 kW (A7/W35, approximate, exact value according to the current technical data sheet of the manufacturer)
  • Warranty: 2 years statutory, with the option of an extended warranty if registered and put into operation by a certified Vaillant service technician

Installation and project notes

The outdoor unit is installed on a solid base or wall consoles with sufficient clearance from obstacles (minimum 30–40 cm from the sides, more in front due to air flow) and with condensate drainage outside walkways to prevent ice formation in winter. Connection to the internal unit uniTOWER is done via refrigerant piping (copper, insulated) with a maximum length according to the manufacturer's project documentation and maximum elevation difference according to the manual; the exact route, length and dimensioning of the piping is designed by an authorized Vaillant project planner/installation company. Electrical connection and commissioning must be carried out by a certified Vaillant service technician, which is also a condition for the extended warranty to apply.

Due to its weight and value, the product is classified as an atypical shipment – delivery is carried out by GLS courier (not via PostNord/PostBox) and payment is possible only by advance bank transfer, not by cash on delivery or online card payment. We recommend agreeing on the exact delivery and installation date in advance with a certified Vaillant installation partner.

Compatible accessories

Common accessories: internal hydraulic module uniTOWER Split plus (single- or two-circuit), room controller/thermostat sensoCOMFORT or myVAILLANT app, WiFi communication module, refrigerant piping set between the outdoor and indoor unit, wall or ground mounting kit, anti-noise/anti-vibration pads.

Frequently asked questions

Can this outdoor unit be operated in heavy frost?
Yes, aroTHERM Split plus is designed for reliable operation at outdoor temperatures well below freezing (typically down to approx. -25 °C), with the performance curve and COP gradually decreasing as the temperature drops; therefore, system dimensioning and any bivalent source are addressed in the project according to the building's heat loss.

Is a separate internal module required, or does the unit operate independently?
The outdoor split unit always requires an internal hydraulic unit (uniTOWER module or another compatible hydraulic station), to which the refrigerant piping is connected and where heat is transferred to the heating water and DHW.

Can the unit be used for cooling in summer?
Yes, the model supports active cooling (with a compatible internal unit and suitable distribution system, e.g., fancoils or underfloor heating with dew point control).

Note on technical specifications

The stated technical parameters are based on publicly available documentation from the manufacturer Vaillant (vaillant.sk and related regional pages of the Vaillant Group) and technical data sheets of comparable/adjacent models within the same product range. For binding heating system design, we recommend verifying the current technical data sheet and installation manual for the specific product code directly with the manufacturer or a certified Vaillant installation partner.

Zahvaljujući tehnologiji zrak-voda, sustav osigurava učinkovito grijanje i hlađenje tijekom cijele godine.
