ATMOS C 18 S
Code: C18SProduct detailed description
– 20 kW gasification boiler for lignite coal and wood – COMBI with induced draught fan and cooling loop
It is designed for burning lignite coal and wood as a backup fuel (for lighting up), based on the principle of gasification with the use of an induced draught fan (S), which extracts flue gases from the boiler.
The boiler body is made as a welded structure from high-quality steel sheets 3 to 6 mm thick. It consists of two chambers positioned one above the other, the upper one serving as a fuel hopper, the lower one as a combustion chamber and ash pan. Between them is a new, patented rotating grate, which allows perfect fuel gasification and easy ash removal. In the rear part of the boiler body there is a vertical flue gas channel, fitted at the top with a lighting-up flap. The upper part of the flue gas channel is fitted with a flue outlet for connection to the chimney.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I choose the correct output for a solid fuel boiler? Base your choice on the calculated heat loss of the heated building, but with wood/coal boilers you should also consider that the boiler burns for several hours at essentially constant output during a single loading - therefore it is common practice to add a buffer (accumulation) tank to the boiler, which stores excess heat for later use instead of the boiler having to be inefficiently throttled down.
- What else do I need to install this boiler? In addition to the boiler itself, the system usually requires: a buffer (accumulation) tank of adequate volume, a circulation pump (often already with a built-in Laddomat or thermoregulating valve against low-temperature corrosion of the boiler), a safety valve, an expansion vessel and a flue/chimney with sufficient draught corresponding to the boiler output - exact chimney draught values can be found in the technical parameters above.
- What fuel is suitable and what is not? Use only fuel recommended by the manufacturer for the given model (typically split wood of a defined length and moisture content, or lignite briquettes or coal depending on the boiler type) - unsuitable or too moist fuel reduces efficiency, increases tar and deposit formation and can damage the boiler.
- What about chimney inspection and legislation? Before putting the boiler into operation, as well as regularly during its use (usually once a year for solid fuels), an inspection/cleaning of the chimney by an authorized chimney sweep is required by law - without the relevant inspection certificate, an insurance claim in the event of a fire may also be disputable.
- How much maintenance does the boiler require? This usually includes regular removal of ash and cleaning of the heating surfaces/flue gas paths of soot (interval depending on intensity of use, usually a matter of weeks), and once a year a thorough inspection including seals and the chimney.
- Can I install the boiler myself? The actual placement and connection of the boiler to the heating system, chimney and safety elements should be carried out or at least professionally checked by a heating technician - this is a device with an open flame, high temperatures and pressurized components, where an error in connection can be a safety risk.
