Detailed information

Product detailed description

– 48 kW gasification boiler for brown coal and wood – COMBI with an extraction fan and a cooling loop

It is designed for burning brown coal and wood as a backup fuel (for heating), based on the principle of generator gasification using an extraction fan (S), which draws the flue gases out of the boiler.
The boiler body is a welded construction made of high-quality steel sheets 3 to 6 mm thick. It consists of two chambers stacked on top of each other, the upper one serving as a fuel hopper, the lower one as a combustion chamber and ash pan. Between them is a new, patent-protected rotating grate, which allows perfect gasification of the fuel and easy removal of ash. At the rear of the boiler body there is a vertical flue gas duct, fitted at the top with an ignition flap. The upper part of the flue gas duct is fitted with an exhaust neck for connection to the chimney.

Basic technical data Atmos C50S:

  • output: 48 kW
  • required chimney draught: 28 Pa
  • boiler weight: 492 kg
  • water volume: 95 L
  • hopper volume: 150 dm3
  • electrical input: 50 W
  • connection voltage: 230/50 V/Hz
  • prescribed fuel: brown coal, nut 1 grade, calorific value 17 – 20 MJ/kg-1
  • backup fuel: dry wood with a calorific value of 15 – 18 MJ/kg-1, diameter 80 – 120 mm and moisture content of 12 – 20 %
  • max. wood length: 530 mm
  • minimum return water temperature during operation: 65 °C
  • flue gas temperature at rated output: 230 °C
  • combustion class: 5

Advantages of ATMOS coal gasification boilers:

  • ability to burn quality brown coal and wood as a backup fuel
  • large fuel hopper = long burning time
  • high efficiency of 81 – 88 % depending on type – primary and secondary air is preheated to a high temperature
  • more environmentally friendly combustion – boiler according to ČSN EN 303-5 class 5, ECODESIGN 2015/1189
  • extraction fan – dust-free ash removal, boiler room without smoke
  • cooling loop against overheating – no risk of boiler damage
  • automatic boiler shutdown after fuel has burned out – flue gas thermostat
  • convenient ash removal – large ceramic combustion chamber for ash (coal is removed once a day, wood once a week)
  • boiler without a tube – easier cleaning
  • small dimensions and low weight
  • high quality

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I choose the right boiler output? Base your choice on the calculated heat loss of the heated building, but with wood/coal boilers also consider that the boiler burns for several hours at essentially constant output during one loading - therefore it is common practice to supplement the boiler with an accumulation (buffer) tank, which stores excess heat for later use instead of having to inefficiently throttle the boiler.
  • What else do I need to install this boiler? In addition to the boiler itself, the system usually requires: an accumulation (buffer) tank of appropriate volume, a circulation pump (often already with a built-in Laddomat or thermoregulation valve against low-temperature corrosion of the boiler), a safety valve, an expansion vessel and a flue/chimney with sufficient draught corresponding to the boiler output - exact draught values can be found in the technical parameters above.
  • What fuel is suitable and what is not? Use only fuel recommended by the manufacturer for the given model (typically logs of a defined length and moisture content, or brown coal briquettes or coal depending on the boiler type) - unsuitable or overly wet fuel reduces efficiency, increases tar and deposit formation, and can damage the boiler.
  • What about chimney inspection and legislation? Before putting the boiler into operation, as well as regularly during its use (usually once a year for solid fuels), a chimney inspection/cleaning by an authorized chimney sweep is required by law - without the relevant inspection certificate, an insurance claim in the event of a fire could also be disputed.
  • How much maintenance does the boiler require? This typically includes regular ash removal and cleaning of heating surfaces/flue gas passages from soot (interval depending on intensity of use, usually every few weeks), and once a year a thorough inspection including seals and the chimney.
  • Can I install the boiler myself? The actual placement and connection of the boiler to the heating system, chimney and safety elements should be carried out or at least professionally checked by a heating technician - this is a device with an open flame, high temperatures and pressure components, where a connection error can be a safety risk.
