The DAB ACTIVE DRIVER PLUS T/T 5.5 (code 60170715) is an integrated control system with a frequency inverter for centrifugal pumps. Based on the current pressure and flow, it continuously varies the motor speed and keeps the set pressure in the network even when water demand changes. The pump starts softly, runs only as fast as needed, and at very low flow – for example with a valve that does not close fully – the inverter reduces the operating pressure and so limits leakage.

Application

Suitable for surface pumps, 4" submersible pumps and 5" pumps with a 3× 380–480 V three-phase motor and a current of up to 13.3 A. Typical uses include water supply to houses and apartment buildings from wells, irrigation of gardens, greenhouses and farmland, campsites, rainwater reuse, swimming pools and industrial plants. The inverter is intended for clean water without solids or fibres; it must not be used for salt water, sludge, oils or flammable or corrosive liquids.

Protections and installation

The inverter protects the pump against dry running (with adjustable minimum flow and switch-off delay), overcurrent, overheating of the power stage and abnormal supply voltage; it also has an anti-freeze function. Up to 8 inverters of the same model with identical pumps can be linked into one group. The installation must include a shut-off valve, and there must be no branches between the inverter and the pump. During commissioning, the rated current of the motor must be set. The electrical connection must be made by a specialist – the manufacturer recommends a type B residual current device.

Do I need a pressure vessel with the inverter?
According to the manufacturer, a pressure vessel is not necessary, but the inverter can work together with one – the control algorithm can be adapted for such operation.

Which pump can I connect to the T/T 5.5 model?
A surface pump, a 4" submersible pump or a 5" pump with a 3× 380–480 V three-phase motor and a current of no more than 13.3 A. During commissioning, the rated motor current must be set in the inverter.

How is the inverter connected to the pipework?
Water flows through it – the inlet has a 1 1/4" male thread and the outlet a 1 1/2" female thread. There must be no branches between the inverter and the pump, and the installation needs a shut-off valve.

What should I do when there is a risk of frost?
In operation, the inverter must be protected from frost and kept permanently powered so that the anti-freeze function works. If it is not in use, it must be disconnected, removed from the pipework and fully drained.
