PNI Safe House 230 is a pair that detects gas leaks and simultaneously closes the gas supply. The set includes a gas detector and an electromagnetic valve with an internal thread of 3/4 inch. The detector monitors natural gas (methane), LPG (propane-butane), and coal gas. When the concentration exceeds 20% of the lower flammability limit, it triggers a continuous siren with a volume of at least 85 dB and lights up a red LED diode.

At the same time, it sends a short electrical impulse of 9–12 V to the valve, which closes the gas supply in less than one second. After the cause is removed, the valve can be manually reopened. The set is ready for connection: plug the detector into a 230 V socket and connect the valve to it using the attached 90 cm cable.

The semiconductor sensor has a lifespan of up to 5 years according to the manufacturer, and the housing made of flame-retardant ABS plastic is easy to clean. The maximum power consumption is 3 W. The set is suitable for use in the kitchen, boiler room, garage, and small industrial premises. Note: the detector does not detect carbon monoxide (CO).

Installation and compatibility

The detector is suitable only for indoor use with humidity up to 95%, not in places with a large amount of water vapor. Natural gas is lighter than air, so the detector should be placed about 30 cm below the ceiling and 1.5 m from the gas source; LPG is heavier and sinks to the floor, so the detector should be placed 30 cm above the floor and also 1.5 m from the source. After turning it on, the sensor heats up for approximately 2–3 minutes, during which the gas test does not function; the end of heating is confirmed by a beep.

The valve has an internal thread of 3/4", a maximum pressure of 100 kPa, and a body made of brass alloy. Installation of the valve on the gas pipe must be carried out by a qualified person with professional competence in gas equipment; this set does not replace regular inspections of gas equipment.

Common questions

How can the alarm be tested?
According to the manufacturer, press the lighter button and slowly bring it close to the detector's opening without igniting it. The test works only after the sensor has finished heating up.

Does the set detect carbon monoxide?
No. The detector is designed for flammable gases and does not detect carbon monoxide.

How can I open the valve again?
After the cause of the leak is removed, you can manually open it.
