Vaillant Dämpfungssockel – Rubber bases for free installation of the outdoor unit (60 cm, 2 pcs)

Original Vaillant damping bases serve for acoustic and mechanical separation (de-coupling) of the aroTHERM heat pump outdoor unit from the base when installed freely on a flat, compacted surface – concrete foundation, terrace, compacted ground or flat roof. The set includes 2 bases with a length of 600 mm, which are placed transversely under the body of the outdoor unit instead of a classic concrete foundation or console.

Purpose and principle of operation

An air-to-water heat pump generates vibrations from the compressor and fan during operation. When the metal frame of the unit is in direct contact with a rigid base (concrete, paving), these vibrations are transferred into the building structure as structural noise (buzzing, thumping transmitted through walls). The rubber/elastomeric inserts in the base body function as a flexible damping element – they absorb mechanical vibrations and significantly reduce noise transmission to the surroundings, which is important especially when installed near living rooms, bedrooms or adjacent properties, where noise limits according to current legislation must be observed.

Compatibility

The bases are intended for outdoor units of the aroTHERM plus series (VWL .../6 A, .../5 AS), aroTHERM Split with hydraulic station and with the uniTOWER AS module, and aroTHERM plus with uniTOWER plus. Before ordering, we recommend verifying the exact model and generation of the unit, as Vaillant uses different sets of bases for different sizes and generations of heat pumps (see also the smaller version "Small rubber bases" for more compact units).

Installation

The installation is simple and does not require special tools – the bases are placed on a flat, compacted and drained base at the specified spacing corresponding to the width of the unit base, the unit is placed on them and, if necessary, secured with screws through the holes in the base. It is important to ensure that the base is really flat (deviation max. a few mm), otherwise the damping elements are unevenly loaded, which reduces their lifespan and damping efficiency. A slight slope of the base away from the unit is recommended to prevent the accumulation of rainwater and melting ice/snow under the unit.

Why choose original accessories

Non-original or improvised solutions (e.g. ordinary rubber pads from household use) do not have a defined load capacity or stiffness of the damping element adapted to the weight and vibration profile of a specific unit. The original Vaillant Dämpfungssockel is designed and tested directly by the manufacturer to meet the declared acoustic parameters of the unit stated in the technical documentation (e.g. sound power level LWA), and its use is also a prerequisite for warranty recognition in the case of complaints related to excessive vibration transmission.

Frequently asked questions

Is a concrete foundation required next to the bases? No, on a flat and sufficiently load-bearing base (minimum compaction class corresponding to the unit load, usually 40–130 kg) the bases replace the foundation.

Can they also be used on a roof? Yes, provided the roof structure is dimensioned for point loading and the roof covering/waterproofing is protected against mechanical damage and possibly also anti-fall protection for service access is ensured.

Is special coating or corrosion protection required? The structure is made of galvanized/corrosion-protected material intended for year-round outdoor operation, additional protection is not necessary.

Do the bases also reduce vibrations transmitted to the cooling/heating piping? The bases solve the mechanical separation of the unit from the base; for piping connections, it is recommended to combine with flexible connection kits (see our other aroTHERM accessories), which dampen vibrations spreading through the piping.

Packaging and delivery

The delivery includes 2 bases including the necessary mounting material. We recommend ordering them together with the outdoor unit so that the installation company can carry out the complete installation in one visit.

Operational and service recommendations

After the first year of operation, we recommend checking the condition of the rubber damping inserts in the bases during the annual service inspection of the heat pump – especially any possible compression, cracking or displacement of the unit from its original position due to subsidence of the base. In areas with high soil moisture or near irrigation systems, it is advisable to occasionally check whether water is not pooling directly under the bases, which could accelerate corrosion of the metal parts even with a quality surface treatment.

To complete the free installation of the outdoor unit on flat ground, we recommend combining these bases with a suitable connection kit for bottom or side installation (depending on the direction of the route to the house) and with a condensate drain heater, if long-term frost is common in the area. For smaller units, an alternative is our smaller set "Small rubber bases (4 pcs)", and in areas with high snow cover, we recommend considering an elevated mounting base with a 40 cm lift instead of the bases.

The product is covered by a warranty period of 24 months according to the current terms and conditions of the e-shop. We recommend keeping the purchase receipt and, in the case of heat pump installation, also obtaining an installation/commissioning protocol from the installation company, which is an important document in the case of a system claim. Due to weight and dimensions, the product is classified as an atypical shipment – delivery is carried out by courier service with pallet/large package transport, payment is possible in advance by bank transfer. When ordering together with the outdoor unit, we recommend choosing a single delivery date, so that the installation company can carry out the installation in one visit.

Comparison of installation methods for the outdoor unit

Vaillant offers three basic methods of attaching the aroTHERM outdoor unit, from which the investor chooses together with the installation company according to the site layout, type of façade and climatic conditions of the location:

• Free installation on rubber bases (this product) – the simplest and fastest solution, does not load the perimeter wall of the house, suitable for flat compacted ground, terrace or roof with sufficient load capacity. No concrete foundation or intervention into the façade is required.
• Wall console – saves space on the site, the unit is elevated above the ground, but requires verified wall load capacity and professional fastening (mechanical or chemical anchors according to the type of façade).
• Elevated mounting base (40 cm) – combines the advantages of free installation with protection against snow accumulation, suitable especially for locations with regular high snow cover.

In all three cases, the key common denominator is the quality damping of the unit using rubber/elastomeric damping elements that prevent the transfer of compressor vibrations into the building structure – it is precisely this function that the bases described in this product perform.

Installation procedure step by step

1. Mark out and prepare a flat, drained and sufficiently load-bearing base at the planned installation site of the outdoor unit.
2. Check the spacing and orientation of the bases according to the dimensions of the base of the specific unit model (see the manufacturer's installation instructions for the given VWL type).
3. Place both bases on the base so that they are parallel and in one plane (check with a spirit level).
4. Mount the outdoor unit on the bases and, if necessary, mechanically secure it through the prepared holes in the base.
5. Check that the unit is stable and level in all directions, and if there are any irregularities in the base, correct them before final fixing.
6. Connect the piping, electrical installation and condensate drain according to the project documentation and put the unit into operation according to the manufacturer's instructions.
