Hornisse – electric heating cable 5.5 mm, length 100 m
Code: HO HCABLE/15-1500Product detailed description
Hornisse HO HCable/15-1500 is an electric heating cable for floor heating, which is laid under the screed. It has a length of 100 m, a diameter of 4.8 – 5.6 mm, a power of 1500 W and operates at 230 V. The linear power of 15 W/m ensures smooth and efficient heating. The heat is transferred to the layer of concrete or anhydrite, which captures and distributes it across the entire floor.
Within the HO HCable/15 range, this cable is offered in a version with a length of 80 m and a version with a length of 120 m. It differs from them in length, power, current draw and weight, while the construction and materials remain the same.
Main features
- Power 15 W/m: economical floor heating with low energy consumption.
- Screed as a heat store: concrete or anhydrite acts as a thermal storage, so the floor remains warm for a long time even after the system is turned off.
- Invisible solution: the cable is completely hidden in the floor and does not interfere with the interior design.
- Protection by the screed: the screed layer protects the cable from mechanical damage and external influences.
- Compatibility with floor coverings: suitable for use under tiles, panels and carpets.
- Safe insulation: the core has LSZH insulation with low smoke emission and no halogens, the sheath is made of XLPE and PVC.
- Low costs: reliable system with minimal maintenance requirements.

Application
The cable is suitable for use in houses, apartments and commercial spaces. It works well in bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms and other rooms where floor heating is appropriate. It is recommended as an auxiliary or main heat source in well-insulated rooms, both in new constructions and when modernising existing heating systems.
How the cable works
Electric current flows through the conductors in the cable core and is converted into heat. This heat is transferred to the surrounding screed, which distributes it evenly across the floor and into the room. Since the cable lies under the screed, the heat is emitted from the entire floor surface rather than from a single point, contributing to even room temperature.
Installation and operation
The cable under the screed should be installed by a qualified electrician and connected in accordance with current regulations. During laying, do not bend, cross or overlap the cable, and do not bend it more sharply than the minimum bending radius of 50 mm allows. Installation should be carried out at a temperature of at least 5 °C. Measure the cable resistance before laying, after laying and after pouring the screed; the manufacturer specifies a value of 35.3 Ω for this model.
Frequently asked questions
What power and current draw does the 100 m cable have?
The cable has a power of 1500 W, draws 6.5 A at 230 V and has a resistance of 35.3 Ω.
Under which screed and under which floor covering is the cable laid?
It is laid under a layer of concrete or anhydrite screed. Floor coverings can be tiles, panels or carpets.
Is the cable suitable as a main heating source?
It is suitable as both supplementary and main heating, provided the room is well insulated.
