Hornisse – electric heating cable 5.5 mm, length 15 m
Code: HO HCABLE/15-225Product detailed description
Hornisse HO HCable/15-225 is the shortest cable in the HO HCable/15 underfloor heating range. At a length of 15 m, it delivers a power of 225 W at 230 V, draws 1.0 A and has a resistance of 235.1 Ω. It is laid under a concrete or anhydrite screed and, thanks to its specific power of 15 W/m, it is suitable for heating a smaller floor area economically and without visible components in the room.
The next variant in the range has a length of 25 m. The construction, materials and supply cable are the same, only the length, power, current draw, resistance and weight differ.
Main Features
- Specific power 15 W/m: ideal for economical underfloor heating.
- Covered by a screed: the cable remains hidden under concrete or anhydrite and nothing disturbs the interior.
- Heat accumulation: the screed captures heat and the floor continues to emit it for a long time after the system is switched off.
- Even temperature: heat spreads across the entire surface and eliminates cold zones.
- Durable against damage: the screed protects the cable from mechanical influences.
- Wide range of floor coverings: suitable under tiles, panels and carpets.
- Low maintenance: minimal maintenance and long service life of the system.

Application
The shorter cable is suitable for single-family homes, apartments and commercial spaces where it is necessary to heat a smaller floor area. It works well in bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms. The manufacturer recommends it for auxiliary or main heating in well-insulated rooms, for new builds as well as for renovations.
When is the shortest variant suitable
With a length of 15 m and a power of 225 W, this cable is the smallest member of the range, so choose it where the heated area is smaller and a lower power is sufficient. The current draw of 1.0 A is the lowest in the range. The cable is laid in the same way as the longer variants, i.e. under a screed, which distributes the heat across the entire heated area. The length cannot be adjusted by shortening, so choose it in advance according to the area. If it seems too small to you, choose the next variant with a length of 25 m.
Installation and operation
- The cable is connected by a qualified electrician in accordance with current regulations.
- Do not bend, cross or overlap the cable during laying and observe the bending radius of 50 mm.
- Installation should be carried out at a temperature of at least 5 °C.
- Compare the cable resistance with the value of 235.1 Ω before and after pouring the screed.
