Good evening, I read this article https://kombo.sk/ako-setrit-energiu/ and found your advice forum. I am particularly interested in points 41 and 42. What do you think of them? What are the most economical boilers and radiators you offer? Is there even such a radiator? Thank you

Good afternoon. The points in the article are true. Regular servicing of the boiler really is important to prevent leaks, as is bleeding the radiators for efficient heating. The boilers and radiators sold today are modern and built to make heating as economical as possible. However, the savings themselves do not depend only on the boiler or radiator used. The space being heated matters, and it varies from building to building (losses through windows and walls, size of the heated area). Have a nice day.

Good afternoon, I would like to ask: I am renovating a house completely from scratch and putting underfloor heating downstairs. My question is whether to put it in the loft as well, or radiators upstairs?? Will it heat upstairs a little from below too??

Good afternoon. Usually underfloor heating goes downstairs and radiators upstairs, but it will not heat much from below. Have a nice day.

Good afternoon, I would like to ask what pipe diameter the supply to the manifold should be when the manifold is a 6-way one and the loops are run in 16mm pipe. The heating engineer suggested 20mm, but will that be enough, as I have heard that some people run their supplies in 26mm. Thank you.

Good afternoon. If your house has no more than two storeys, you can use 20; that is what is normally used, because 20 corresponds to 3/4 and that is also the size of the boiler outlet. Have a nice day.

Good afternoon, I would like to ask whether it is enough to have a flow of 1 to 1.5 l per min. on the manifold, and bubbles can sometimes be seen in the lower sight glasses on the manifold - could it be that there is air in the system? The Grundfos pump is set to auto adapt. Thank you

Good afternoon. The point is for the flow to be balanced; whether it is 1.5 or 2 litres per minute is not so important. Have a nice day.

Good afternoon. I would like to ask whether it is normal that, with underfloor heating in a new build running off a wood and pellet boiler, I have been heating for a week and it is still not as warm as I would like... water goes into the system at 40 degrees and comes back at 25, the room thermostat is set to 30, but so far we have reached 17 degrees at most

Good afternoon. That is not entirely normal. I would set the water to 55 degrees, though. It usually takes two days for everything to warm up. Have a nice day.

Good afternoon, I would be grateful for your opinion, or a suggestion, on increasing the output of the underfloor heating pump built into a Buderus GB172-20 condensing boiler. The heating system consists only of underfloor heating and domestic hot water (DHW) production; the height difference between the boiler, located in the cellar, and the floor in the loft is approx. 4.8m. With the pump set to maximum output, the flow meters in the loft show a maximum of 1-1.5l/min., whereas with a nominal length of approx. 100m for each loop it should be in the region of 2.5l/min. Is there some complete solution that could be fitted into the circuit relatively quickly to increase the flow rate and pressure of the water delivered to the floor? Thank you for your reply

Good afternoon. Either use something like this: https://www.atria.sk/zostava-mix-m1-na-redukciu-teploty-pre-nerezove-rozdelovace/, provided the centre distance fits, although this will tend to mix the water from the circuit, or use an additional pump on the riser: https://www.atria.sk/aquart-25-6-130/ but I cannot say which solution will be cheaper. Have a nice day.

Good afternoon, I would like to ask: I have a 3-storey house, 5.4m from the bottom floor to the top one. The living area is 220m2, of which 186m2 is underfloor heating, and the air volume is 500m3. The heating engineer has worked out approx. 1700m of pipe in total back to the boiler, a Protherm Raja 21Kw. And here a problem arose: the pump in the boiler will not cope and an additional booster pump will be needed. So I am asking whether I should buy an extra pump and, if so, whether it would not be better to have it directly on the manifolds, as supplied by the manufacturer.

Good afternoon. What should the flow rate be in underfloor heating? I have a Protherm Raja 9K and a 7-way manifold with a pump. The heating is combined - underfloor heating on the ground floor, radiators upstairs. The pipe is pex-al-pex-16-x-2. Thank you in advance for your reply.

Good afternoon. There is no specific figure that has to be met; the flow can be two or even four litres per minute. What matters is that all the underfloor heating loops have roughly the same flow, and you set this on the manifold. Have a nice day

Good afternoon, I have a problem with underfloor heating in a new build. We moved in only six months ago; when it turned properly cold we switched the boiler on, but after 3 weeks we still cannot heat the house above 21 degrees. We have a condensing boiler with the water temperature set to 45 degrees; the boiler runs more or less non-stop and the thermostat is set to 22.5 degrees. Thank you for any good tip and for your reply

Good afternoon, the boiler may well be running non-stop, but the question is whether it is actually running at those 45 degrees non-stop too. Also try setting the room thermostat manually to the required temperature so that it is not governed by the weather compensation sensor. In any case, a new build will be well insulated, so the fault will lie elsewhere rather than the boiler not being powerful enough. Have a nice day.

Good afternoon, I would like to ask how it works when you have underfloor heating and radiators. The pipework should obviously be separate, since a lower water temperature goes into the underfloor heating. How do you connect it up in the boiler room? The boiler would be a solid fuel one plus an 800 l cylinder. Or how would you approach it yourselves? Thank you.

Good afternoon. I would like to ask which system insulation board and pipe you would recommend for underfloor heating in a flat. I am going to renovate a whole flat of approx. 60m2. The maximum height including the concrete can be 95mm. A solid fuel boiler will be used that already heats one flat, so I will also need some kind of control (mixing) valve, and 5 rooms plus a bathroom will be connected. Which board do you suggest? Which pipe do you suggest? Which manifold and valve? P.S. I want to join it with threaded fittings, not press fittings.

Good afternoon, I have sent you the floor plans under the names ground floor and first floor. Where the 800l cylinder is (KRB_Prizemie.jpg) is also the ground floor, but without dimensions, to keep the diagram simple and clear. FBH_Prizemie.jpg in turn shows the dimensions and types of rooms. The floor plans also show, sketched in blue, how the loops are to be laid out in the individual rooms (it should be warmest in the bathrooms and coolest in the bedroom). There will be tiles throughout the ground floor and a floating floor throughout the first floor (except the bathroom). Kind regards, Roman Malovanik

Good afternoon, could you please prepare a quotation for heating materials: - underfloor heating approx. 2x70m2 (10 loops) - surface-mounted cabinet - system insulation boards (UHP53 will do, for example; on the ground floor a further 20 cm of EPS will go under the boards) - 1000l buffer tank with insulation (the energy source will be an Edilkamin H2Oceano 15 CS wet fireplace - 12kW output to water) - integration of the heating with the buffer tank. I attach the floor plans/sketch of the individual loops and a diagram showing the position of the fireplace, cylinder and manifold. Drinking water will be heated independently by a heat pump (geoTHERM VWL BM/2). Could you also please send contact details for specialists you work with for the installation (the house is in Austria, 5km over the border). Thank you.

Good afternoon. We will prepare a quotation for underfloor heating for you. To be able to design it, I would need you to tell us what type of floor there will be in each room. It is enough to say whether it will be tiles or a floating floor. I noticed that there are no dimensions where the 800L tank is. It is probably the basement. Do you want underfloor heating there too? In my view, if it is a basement, radiators will do. Kind regards, ATRIA

Good afternoon, I have a question. If the pipe is not long enough for one underfloor heating loop, can I extend it with a coupling? And if so, how many couplings can I have in the whole house? I have 9 loops and a Protherm RAJA K12 boiler. Will the built-in pump push the water through the couplings, and will they not reduce the heating output? Thank you for your reply
  • Author:

Good afternoon. Couplings can be used without any problem, but burying them in concrete is not the best solution. It is best to wrap them in plastic sheeting so that the concrete does not get directly into the joints. The pumps in boilers are powerful enough, so you need not worry that they will not push the water through.

Well, first of all it is seriously expensive :) and you need another heat source anyway, most often an electric or gas boiler. Heat pumps are most often sold just for heating DHW, i.e. ordinary hot water

Good afternoon, I would like to request a quotation from you for heating, domestic hot water (DHW) and underfloor heating for building c1 according to the design attached to the email. It is a house, currently at the shell stage, which will be used as a weekend home, so it will not be in continuous use (but with that option for the future). I have been thinking about infrared heating, or conventional underfloor heating with a direct electric heater in a 300l cylinder supplying heat for the floor, possibly with DHW from a heat pump cylinder (Feinwerk or something similar). I attach the report for the building permit.

Good afternoon, it is hard to answer the question of whether or not you should go for it. For 90 metres of underfloor heating you need 90 metres of polystyrene and roughly 580 metres of pipe - the calculation is 6.6 metres of pipe per square metre - plus one manifold with a cabinet. All these components, along with the small items, can be found here: https://www.atria.sk/clanky/podlahove-kurenie-a-vykurovanie/
