Detailed information

Product detailed description

IVAR.IVN410 – 28 mm (code IVN410.28) is a non-reducing coupling with two press ends (PRESS × PRESS) for joining two sections of stainless steel pipe of the same 28 mm diameter. The joint is made by mechanically pressing the fitting.

Applications

  • closed heating and cooling systems, solar systems
  • compressed air and vacuum systems
  • inert and technical gases, technical and process fluids
  • industrial applications, waste water and rainwater

Note: not for drinking water. The fitting body is marked with the AISI 304 logo, a symbol indicating that it is unsuitable for drinking water, the size and a traceability code.

Technical data

  • material: AISI 304 stainless steel (W.Nr. 1.4301), EPDM sealing O-ring with LBP profile
  • max. operating pressure PN 16, vacuum down to -0.8 bar (absolute pressure 0.2 bar)
  • operating temperature -20 °C to +85 °C, maximum +120 °C
  • antifreeze content in the system max. 50%
  • length L 61 mm and dimension Z 13 mm according to the technical drawing

Installation

Cut the pipe square to its axis with a pipe cutter or a fine-toothed saw and carefully deburr it inside and out. Mark the insertion depth with a marker pen, check the position of the O-ring and push the fitting on axially with a slight twist up to the stop – water may be used to help, but never oil or lubricants. For the 28 mm diameter, use single-piece press jaws with M profile. The joint must be pressed right the first time; pressing it again may damage the seal.

Checking is made easier by a double safeguard: the orange colour strip on the press end tears during pressing, and the LBP (Leak Before Press) O-ring with its broken profile makes an unpressed joint leak during the pressure test.

Before commissioning, flush the entire system according to the manufacturer's instructions; for treating the heating system IVAR recommends GEL.LONG LIFE 100. Follow the installation and operating manual of the IVAR.PRESS system during installation.

Frequently asked questions

Can the IVAR.IVN410 coupling be used for drinking water?
No. The AISI 304 stainless steel fitting is not intended for drinking water, as a symbol on its body also indicates. It is used, for example, in closed heating and cooling circuits, solar systems or compressed air networks.

Which press jaws do I need for the 28 mm size?
The jaws must have the M profile. For the 28 mm diameter, single-piece jaws of the matching size are sufficient.

How can I tell if I forgot to press a joint?
The orange strip on the press end tears during pressing, so an intact strip reveals an unpressed joint. In addition, the LBP O-ring with its broken profile makes such a joint leak during the pressure test.

Can the circuit contain antifreeze?
Yes, the antifreeze concentration may be up to 50%. The operating temperature is -20 °C to +85 °C, maximum +120 °C, at pressures up to PN 16.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.

Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.

Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.

“Made in Italy” adds value

IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.

The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.

Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.

The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.

As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
