PNI Safe House 400 is a gas detector and solenoid valve set that will trigger an alarm and shut off the gas supply in the event of a leak. The package contains two such sets, so you can cover, for example, the kitchen and boiler room or two apartments.
The detector with a semiconductor sensor reacts to natural gas (methane), LPG (propane-butane) and coal gas. The alarm is triggered at already 10 % of the lower explosive limit: a continuous siren with a volume of at least 85 dB sounds and a red LED flashes. According to the manufacturer, the sensor has a service life of up to 5 years.
The detector simultaneously sends a 9–12 V impulse to the valve with an internal thread of 3/4", which shuts off the gas supply in less than 1 second. The valve body is made of an aluminum alloy. The detector is powered by 100–240 V AC and its power consumption is less than 3 W. It does not detect carbon monoxide (CO).
Installation and compatibility
Natural gas is lighter than air, so the detector should be installed about 30 cm below the ceiling and 1.5 m from the gas source. LPG is heavier and sinks to the floor, so the detector should be placed about 30 cm above the floor, also 1.5 m from the source. Do not install it in a place with a large amount of water vapor, as it may cause false alarms. After turning on, the sensor heats up for about 180 seconds.
The dimensions of the detector are 72 × 115 × 35 mm, the valve 75 × 45 × 110 mm. The valve works with a pressure up to 100 kPa and in a temperature range of −26 to +80 °C; the cable to the detector is 90 cm long. Installation of the valve on the gas pipe belongs to a qualified person with professional competence in gas equipment.
