The DAB 4OL 7.5 kW T (code 60169102) is a 4" two-pole asynchronous submersible motor with a rewindable stator for a 3 × 400 V three-phase supply. It is coupled to the pump end of a submersible pump via the standard NEMA 4" flange – for example DAB S4 pumps – and drives it in the borehole or well.

Construction

Parts in contact with the pumped water are AISI 304 stainless steel, and the stator is pressed into an AISI 304L stainless-steel jacket. The upper end cover is heavily nickel-plated and clad in stainless steel. The stainless shaft runs in rolling bearings – the axial load is carried by angular-contact ball bearings. The bearings are cooled and lubricated by a special FDA-approved coolant, and the shaft is sealed by a carbon/ceramic mechanical seal protected by a lip seal. A rubber diaphragm at the bottom of the motor compensates for thermal expansion of the fill and for pressure. The rotor has a copper cage and the four-core cable is detachable.

The motor can run vertically or horizontally, and also on a frequency converter between 30 and 50 Hz. The water may be 0 to +35 °C if it flows past the motor at no less than 0.15 m/s; otherwise a cooling sleeve is needed. Protection of the three-phase motor is provided by the user in the electrical installation; connection must be carried out by a qualified person.

Which pumps does the 4OL motor go with?
4" submersible pumps with a NEMA 4" flange, for example DAB S4 pump ends. The pump power must not exceed the motor’s 7.5 kW.

How does the oil-filled 4OL differ from the water-filled 4GG?
The 4OL has an oil fill, rolling bearings and a rewindable stator; the 4GG is filled with a water–glycol mixture and has sleeve bearings. The 4OL allows submersion to 250 m, the 4GG to 300 m.

Is motor protection included?
No. Overload protection of the three-phase motor is provided by the user in the electrical installation, for example with a suitable control panel. The motor comes with a detachable four-core cable 3.5 m long.
