Male threaded adapter press fitting IVAR.IVN481 – stainless steel AISI 304, 22 mm – R1/2"
Code: IVN481.2212Product detailed description
IVAR.IVN481 22 mm – R1/2" (code IVN481.2212) is an AISI 304 (1.4301) stainless steel adapter with two different ends: a press socket for pipe with an outside diameter of 22 mm and a R1/2" male thread. Use it wherever a pressed stainless steel line continues into a heating valve or a fitting with female thread. The press socket matches the pipe diameter, so the adapter does not reduce the line size.
Suitable systems
- closed heating and cooling circuits, solar systems
- compressed air and vacuum systems
- inert and technical gases, technical and process fluids
- industrial applications, waste water and rainwater
This adapter is not intended for drinking water. Its body is marked with the AISI 304 logo, the size, a traceability code and a symbol indicating that it is unsuitable for drinking water.
Pressing the 22 mm socket
For this size, even a portable low-force press tool (up to 17 kN) is sufficient – according to the manufacturer it presses up to roughly 28 mm – used with one-piece M-profile jaws. Jaws with the V profile are prohibited for all diameters. An unpressed joint is revealed by the orange band on the socket and by the LBP (Leak Before Press) sealing O-ring with its broken profile, through which liquid escapes during the pressure test until the joint has been pressed.
R1/2" threaded side
Seal the thread only with chloride-free material – chloride-free PTFE tape, hemp with chloride-free sealing paste or chloride-free sealing tape – otherwise local corrosion of the stainless steel may occur. Stainless steel is compatible with brass, bronze or copper valves; where it would be in direct contact with carbon steel, the manufacturer recommends inserting a non-ferrous metal spacer at least 50 mm long.
Technical data
- maximum operating pressure PN 16, vacuum down to -0.8 bar (absolute pressure 0.2 bar)
- antifreeze mixture with a concentration of up to 50 %
Follow the installation and operating manual of the IVAR press system during assembly. Flush the entire heating system before commissioning – for its treatment IVAR recommends GEL.LONG LIFE 100.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use the IVAR.IVN481 adapter for drinking water?
No. The AISI 304 stainless steel fittings in this range are not intended for drinking water, as a symbol on their body also indicates. They belong in closed heating and cooling circuits, solar systems or lines for compressed air and technical gases.
Which press tool do I need for the 22 mm socket?
Even a portable low-force tool up to 17 kN with one-piece M-profile jaws will do. Jaws with the V profile must not be used.
What should I use to seal the R1/2" male thread?
Use only chloride-free sealing materials – PTFE tape, hemp with paste or sealing tape in a chloride-free version. Chlorides from the sealant can attack the stainless steel locally.
How can I tell that a joint has not been pressed yet?
The socket has an orange indicator band, and the LBP O-ring with its broken profile makes an unpressed joint leak during the pressure test. A forgotten joint is therefore found before commissioning.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.
Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.
“Made in Italy” adds value
IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.
The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.
Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.
The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.
As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
