The Vaillant uniTOWER system (in the plus and Split plus versions) is a compact hydraulic module in the shape of a tower with a footprint comparable to a standard refrigerator, which in one cabinet combines a hot water tank with a volume of 190 l, a complete heating hydraulic system, a backup electric heater and a control unit. The module is connected in the aroTHERM / aroTHERM plus / aroTHERM Split system to the external (or internal, in the Split version) unit of the air-to-water heat pump and is responsible for the distribution of heat to the heating circuit and the preparation of hot water. That is why, since most of the components are integrated directly in the tower body, Vaillant offers a range of supplementary, connecting and service parts for the module, which allow the hydraulics to be adapted to a specific installation – ceiling height, side of connection, need for hot water circulation or additional hydraulic separation of circuits.
Heat pump aroTHERM and the location of the part in the system
Heat pumps of the aroTHERM / aroTHERM plus / aroTHERM Split range extract heat from the air even at low outside temperatures and transfer it to the heating circuit and to the hot water tank via the uniTOWER module. Since, compared to a gas boiler, lower temperatures of the heating water are used and more emphasis is placed on the correct hydraulic balancing of the entire circuit, the quality and compatibility of each individual hydraulic part – including expansion vessels, circulation and connecting kits – is directly linked to the overall efficiency and quiet operation of the system.
