Detailed information

Product detailed description

The IVAR.IVN460 28 mm – G 5/4" connector union provides the transition from a pressed stainless steel pipeline to a heating valve or a fitting with a G 5/4" male thread. The press end for the 28 mm pipe is sealed by an EPDM O-ring; on the opposite side is a union nut that is screwed onto the mating part and tightened against a flat gasket. The union combines AISI 304 stainless steel (1.4301) with brass. Its overall length is 44 mm and the Z dimension according to the drawing is 10 mm.

Applications

  • closed heating and cooling circuits, solar systems
  • compressed air, vacuum systems, inert and technical gases
  • technical and process liquids, industrial applications
  • waste water and rainwater

The union is not intended for drinking water. It handles operating pressure up to PN 16, vacuum down to -0.8 bar (absolute pressure 0.2 bar), temperatures from -20 °C to +85 °C with a maximum of +120 °C, and antifreeze mixtures with a concentration of no more than 50 %.

Pressing and checking the joint

Cut the 28 mm pipe square, deburr it inside and outside and push it in up to the stop; pressing is done with M-profile press jaws. The patented LBP (Leak Before Press) O-ring has a kinked profile, so an unpressed joint shows itself by leaking liquid during the pressure test, and an orange strip indicates pressing. Leave the installation to a professional who follows the system manufacturer's instructions; before starting the heating, the manufacturer recommends flushing the system and treating the water with GEL.LONG LIFE 100.

The IVAR.IVN460 range includes unions for 15 to 54 mm pipes with G 1/2" to G 2" threads.

Frequently asked questions

What mating part does the IVAR.IVN460 28 mm – G 5/4" union fit?
The G 5/4" union nut screws onto a valve or fitting with a male thread of the same size, and the joint is sealed by a flat gasket. The other end is pressed onto a 28 mm stainless steel pipe.

Can the union be used for drinking water?
No. It is intended for closed heating and cooling systems, solar circuits, compressed air, technical gases and liquids, and waste water and rainwater.

How is the press end installed?
Cut the pipe square, deburr it inside and outside, push it in up to the stop and press it with M-profile jaws. The LBP O-ring and the orange strip help to detect a joint that has been left unpressed.

What temperature and pressure can the union withstand?
Operating pressure up to PN 16 and temperatures from -20 °C to +85 °C, at most +120 °C. The antifreeze mixture may have a concentration of no more than 50 %.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.

Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.

Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.

“Made in Italy” adds value

IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.

The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.

Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.

The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.

As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
