Good morning, yes, exactly – this unit doesn't include a controller, so you'll need a separate solar regulation unit to properly control the pump and protect the system. Without a controller, the pump has no automatic logic to know when to start or stop based on collector and tank temperatures. We carry compatible solar controllers separately, so it's worth pairing this station with one from the start.
