Configuration and capacity

The IVAR.XREVO-18 is an inverter air conditioner with air-to-air heat exchange made by the Italian manufacturer EMMETI, size 18 kBtu/h. It consists of the wall-mounted indoor unit X-REVO-1824W and the outdoor unit X-REVO-1824E with a rotary compressor. The inverter continuously matches the nominal cooling capacity of 5.1 kW to the actual demand within 1.20–6.00 kW. In heating mode it works as a heat pump: at an outdoor temperature of -10 °C it delivers 4.9 kW to the room, and 5.30 kW nominal at 7 °C (1.20–6.40 kW).

Equipment and control

Commands are given with the infrared remote control: cooling COOL, heating HEAT, dehumidification DRY, ventilation FAN and automatic SMART mode, set temperature 16–30 °C. There are also SUPER for rapid cooling or heating, QUIET mode, ECONOMY mode, the SLEEP night programme, a TIMER, I FEEL with a temperature sensor in the remote control, 8 °C maintenance in heating mode, the CLEAN mode and automatic restart with the previous settings after a power failure. Smartphone control via the ConnectLife app requires the WiFi controller I07917566, sold separately, which connects to the control board of the indoor unit. The indoor unit has a sound pressure of 42–30 dB(A), an airflow of up to 950 m³/h and a dehumidification capacity of 2.3 l/h; the outdoor unit reaches a sound pressure of 41 dB(A).

Installation and maintenance

The units are connected with refrigerant pipes of 6.35 mm (1/4") and 12.70 mm (1/2") diameter over a maximum distance of 20 m with a height difference of up to 15 m. The outdoor unit, rated IPX4, cools at outdoor temperatures from -15 to 43 °C and heats from -15 to 24 °C; it runs on single-phase 230 V / 50 Hz (max. current 12.3 A). R32 refrigerant is flammable, so installation, commissioning and servicing must be carried out only by a qualified technician. The air filters are cleaned every 100 operating hours, about every two weeks in dusty environments; the manufacturer recommends a check of the complete system every two years.

Measurement conditions: cooling at 27 (19) °C indoors and 35 °C outdoors, heating at 20 °C indoors and -10 °C outdoors.

Can the IVAR.XREVO-18 air conditioner also heat?
Yes, in HEAT mode it works as an air-to-air heat pump and delivers 4.9 kW at -10 °C outdoors. The outdoor unit heats down to -15 °C; at around -8 °C and about 90 % humidity it defrosts more often, so a second heat source is useful in such conditions.

How far can the outdoor unit be from the indoor unit?
The refrigerant line between the units may be up to 20 m long with a height difference of up to 15 m. Pipes of 1/4" and 1/2" are used.

Can the air conditioner be controlled from a smartphone?
Yes, with the WiFi controller I07917566, sold separately, which connects to the control board of the indoor unit. It is then operated via the ConnectLife app; the manufacturer recommends checking compatibility before purchase.

What if the remote control is lost or broken?
The indoor unit has an emergency operation button. Holding it for 5 seconds while the unit is off starts the air conditioner in cooling mode at 16 °C; pressing it again switches it off.
