90° press tee with female thread Rp 1/2" IVAR.IVN442 – stainless steel AISI 304, 18 mm
Code: IVN442.181218Product detailed description
The IVAR.IVN442 tee in size 18 mm – Rp 1/2" – 18 mm creates a 90° branch on a stainless steel pipeline that ends in a female thread instead of a press socket. Both run ends are pressed onto pipe of the same 18 mm diameter – the fitting is not reduced. A component with a male thread screws directly into the Rp 1/2" thread.
The fitting is made of stainless steel 1.4301 (AISI 304) and the press sockets are sealed with EPDM O-rings. The body is marked with the AISI 304 logo, the size, a traceability code and a symbol indicating that the product is not intended for drinking water.
The LBP (Leak Before Press) O-rings have a stepped profile, so an unpressed joint lets water escape during the pressure test. Together with the orange strip of the press indicator, a forgotten joint is revealed before the system is put into operation.
Applications
- closed heating and cooling systems
- solar systems
- compressed air and vacuum systems
- inert and technical gases
- technical and process fluids, industrial applications
- waste water and rainwater
The circuit may contain antifreeze at a maximum concentration of 50 %. The tee is not intended for drinking water installations.
Installation and pressing
Joints are pressed with M-profile jaws. For the 18 mm diameter, the system manual specifies single (one-piece) jaws; V-profile jaws must not be used on any size.
Cut the pipe square to its axis, deburr it carefully inside and out and mark the insertion depth with a marker. Seal the thread only with chloride-free materials, such as chloride-free PTFE tape or hemp with chloride-free paste. Follow the system installation manual and flush the entire circuit before commissioning; the manufacturer also recommends treating the water with GEL.LONG LIFE 100.

Frequently asked questions
Can the IVAR.IVN442 tee be used for drinking water?
No. According to the manufacturer, the AISI 304 stainless steel version is not suitable for drinking water, which is also indicated by a symbol on the fitting. It is designed for heating, cooling, solar circuits, compressed air and technical gases or fluids.
What should I use to seal the Rp 1/2" branch thread?
The system installation manual only permits chloride-free sealing materials – chloride-free PTFE tape, hemp with chloride-free sealing paste or chloride-free sealing tape. Chlorides increase the risk of corrosion of the stainless steel.
Which press jaws do I need for the 18 mm size?
M-profile jaws; for diameters from 15 to 35 mm, single jaws are sufficient. The system manual prohibits V-profile jaws.
How do I spot a joint I forgot to press?
The sockets have an orange press indicator and an LBP O-ring that lets fluid through during the pressure test as long as the joint is not pressed. The mistake therefore shows up before commissioning.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.
Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.
“Made in Italy” adds value
IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.
The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.
Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.
The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.
As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
